82-Year-Old Woman Cited For Driving 110 Mph
GRESHAM, Ore. -- An 82-year-old woman was cited for driving her car 110 mph near Gresham on Thursday.
An Oregon State Police trooper spotted the car going westbound on Highway 26 near Milepost 19 at around 8:40 a.m. The trooper clocked the car at 110 mph in a 55 mph zone.
The car also had its hazard lights flashing as it was going around other traffic, the trooper said.
Marcia Brandon, 82, from Rhododendron, was pulled over and cited. The trooper said she was heading to an appointment and didn’t realize she was driving that fast.
Convictions for driving faster than 100 mph carry a mandatory minimum license suspension of 30 to 90 days and a $1,103 fine.

That stretch of road is a divided highway, but it has some curves in it and a lot of people driving slower than that are killed there every year. My hat's off to that trooper.
Oregon is also terrible about license renewals, it's done only every 8 years. Get renewed at 78 and you don't do it again until you're 86. Too many elderly drivers out there that shouldn't be.
