    National Grid

You guys will enjoy this one.

I am working today, I am the Chief, and I just hired a great friend, and guy who happens to have Downs syndrome as a crossing guard. He has been on for about a week, he has hung around with me at special events and stuff.

So I have been sitting in my unmarked at or near his crossing every day watching him as I am a little concerned, but he is doing a great job at the elementary school. I digress....

I am sitting there today and a national grid truck(you know those fukers who charge us an unGodly delivery charge and electric) goes by me at 68 mph in a 20 mph school zone. I turn on all the toys, and I have all kinds of flashing thingys on my car, and go after him. He blows through the red light at the intersection passing three cars on the right while doing so.

Now I am a little annoyed. I have to stop at the light as cars are coming through the green light, I throw up the handheld laser and get him at 89 in a 30 . I get through and go after him.

I call out to dispatch that I am attempting to stop, a national grid truck, and I am about 2 miles out of town. We are at about 110mph and he is passing cars at this point. (No I am not emailing anyone or on the cell phone). Although I catch up to him and strangely enough, he is on the cell phone.

NYS Police call me and state they are coming down the next crossroad and will attempt to intercept this azz hat.

He pulls over. I walk up and he yells out the window, "I am on a 911 call emergency." I am like, "What?" He says "I have wires down on so and so street" I say " License and registration, now."

He says "I am on an emergency call, you cannot stop me." I say "Step out of the truck sir."

Long story short, I wrote him 4 UTT's and sent him on his way to the wires down call. His supervisor called me later and asked me what I was thinking.

Am I missing something here? LMFAO

I would have locked him up for reckless endangerment and had the truck towed.

What's scary to me is that the supervisor doesn't see what the problem is with that guy. No lesson will probably be learned.
Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine

I wonder how much the supervisor would have stood behind his driver if he killed a kid. My guess is amnesia would have set in and it would have been "our policy is that our drivers obey all traffic laws at all times. This driver is no longer employed."

Forget about the list. Call that company and express your concern that their drivers and supervisors seem unaware of the law and safe operating procedures. Relay the traffic stop and subsequent call. You can create a shiatload of in-house safety classes these clowns will need to attend. These are the kind of classes that you start gouging at your eyes after about 10 minutes.

Perhaps you forgot about the National Grid exception in the vehicle code.

Right next to the "gotta take a dump" exception, and the "but the shoe sale ends today" exception.

reminds me of a little incident several years back, we had a new hire that I was riding with working construction zone radar; along comes a nice SUV at 63 in 35 zone, we stop them and rookie makes contact with the driver (power company big shot of sorts) he wants to know if chief is aware of the "speed trap" he's working...

Priceless-rookie says, why don't you ask him, he's right there...

    end of conversation.

One of the few times I ventured onto one of our freeways, I saw some kid in a Camero going in and out of traffic and passing everyone. I clocked him at about 75 in a 55. I pulled him over and he immediately told me that it wasn't his fault, his speedometer didn't work.

I just nodded, went back to my car and wrote him a citation. When I gave it to him, he cried, "YOU'RE going to make me lose my license!"

He's probably a high ranking official in the Democratic party now.

Pardon my asking, and I'm in no way trying to be insensitive, but wouldn't putting a person with Downs Syndrome in control of a child's safety be a huge liability?
