I read an article about the Orlando, FL police departments hiring numbers and budget. It said that out of approximately 1000 applications received, only 30 or so would be hired.
So I starting wondering... how many applicants out of that 1000 are actually "qualified"?
Meaning how many would pass a backround check, POLY, credit check, fitness test, medical, oral, etc etc etc.
Like I'm sure 10-20% of the applications are shredded right away because the applicant has 2 DUIs or a felony or some sort of automatic DQ. Then another 20% or so are thrown out because they don't meet the minimum requirements I.E. not enough college, no HS diploma, no military, not a U.S. citizen, or whatever.
So basically I was wondering if anyone on here had experience in hiring new LEO's and what percent are "hireable" but not "competitive."
When I worked as a grocery store manager before the Navy I used to assist in the hiring process a bit and we would throw out about half of the applications because they either failed the drug test or answered a question poorly on the honestly exam... "I think it is OK to steal items worth less than $5 from my employer because these items are cheap anyway and the company can afford it."
Just curious if anyone had some rough numbers or guessesThanks
MA3 (hopefully MA2 soon...)

Thanks
