I had a series of 'raccoon moving about in daylight calls'. Seems RP was concerned about it being rabid. (It was dusk).
Got an intruder call one night from a woman who clearly had dementia. I know this because she called the intruder 'The Thin Man' who would fold himself up and hide in various shoe boxes. After about 10 minutes with her (she was old and social services were on the way), she started to freak me out a bit because she completely believed it. She kept hearing things and leading me about the house. Finally, I had enough and told her that he wasn't real. He WAS she said. I asked where he WAS then. Her eyes got huge and said in a meek voice. 'RIGHT BEHIND YOU!' That freaked me out admittedly. I had her come out and sit on the porch in the sunshine with me. I've seen way too many movies to deal with that much longer. My Sgt dropped by to have a good laugh, but you really should have seen those eyes!
For me, before there was the Thin Blue Line, there was the Blood Stripe! Semper Fi!
Our fear reminds us that we are not God, our faith reminds us that He is!
