Get glasses with ballistic lenses and you not only enhance your vision, but also have protection against fragmentation, fingers, liquids, and with the uber cool lenses and frames, the sun as well.

Take those lemons and make some lemonade imo...

WileyX and Oakley both make the ballistic lenses as standard; Wiley has a video of the lens stopping a shotgun pellet. I have used both underway and they have held up well in the salt. I wear glasses 24/7 and have thought about going lasik for awhile....just need to make up my mind about the risk. Eyes are not something you want to mess around with.

I wear glasses, I'm damn near blind when looking at distance (neighborhood of 20/100). Only downside is when getting out of my car, they fog up on humid summer days. I have to take them off for a few seconds, but I can still function.

The oakley brand was suggested to me and I think next week i'll go by the eye doctor and see what they offer.

But what do they cost? I've never seen a cop get an eye injury from anything shot or thrown at them. And the vast majority don't even wear any kind of eye protection. Yeah, it can happen, but you have to leave your car in lightening storms too.

I wouldn't get carried away with that. Especially since she only needs them for reading a computer screen.
