    Concealed Carry Purse

My girlfriend just got the conditional offer for employment (pending physical which she just had one so it should be good to go). I am looking to get her a purse with concealed carry potential HOWEVER, she is VERY picky about her purses and she doesn't want one unless it is COACH purse...I know kinda high maintenance but I love her :D.

Anyone know of a place were they can put a pocket inside the purse or something of the nature so she can still have the purse she wants, but carry off duty as well? Any help is appreciated.

Heh, the only "accessory" that I've ever been able to pick out for my wife that she liked was anything with diamonds in it......

You know, I have never seen a purse adapted for CCW. I didn't know they made them. I suspect if she finds one, there won't be a lot of selection.

There are two people every good cop needs to know: a old fashion shoe repair place and a great tailor. Both are needed in this case!

As a husband of a woman who owns Coach bags, some are leather and some are material. If you buy a leather one....take it to to the shoe repair for work.....if material...your tailor. Both are usually well experienced and can do wonders if you ask.

Plus what I have found is they actually enjoy and love doing it. My shoe guy has been working with shoes and belts for 30 yeras. When he gets a chance to work with something else, or be a little creative for me, he gets excited and will push my pet project way ahead of others and usually charges me much less than what he should. Not to mention my tailor is my dry cleaners husband who spends her days as a nurse and nights/weekends at the family store hemming pants and dresses. She loves doing things for me. She even asked me for a red gun so she could make sure her sewing fit what I wanted and looked OK.

Your real problem is finding a purse big enough and with easy access at less than $500.

I absolutely HATE women carrying guns in purses. I believe the gun should be on your person. I know it is commonly done by women, but I have seen more women lose their weapons this way. People like to steal purses and if your gun is in there...

I know plenty of women carry this way and I can accept it. I just know that, if you look at the ratio of female LEOs carrying this way to those who have lost their gun/purse, compare it to ratio of LEOs who carry their weapons on their person and then lost their guns. You really need to be stupid to carry your gun on your person and lose it/have problems retaining it. Carrying it in a purse/bag really makes it a lot easier.

    Ok, sorry... rant over.

Is she then going to academy and fto? I'd wait until those are all done. her mind will change six ways from sunday about what she wants. I'd bet money that experience will change her preference on color, style and brand or just about everything she now owns. I don't know if it's an excuse to get all new stuff or what, but it will happen.

    Ditto...

However, a safepacker might be an option if she insists. It's basically a gun case that could be fit inside her purse.

And with all the stuff women tend to accumulate in their purses; by the time they find the gun its all over. Course that's easily remedied, but just figured I'd add that.

My concealed carry instructor demonstrated one for us. The wearer really needs to be mindful where the barrel is pointing, especially when drawing it out.

This link has a few pictures of the separate pocket carry purses come with.

She should not carry her gun in her purse but on her person.

Crap. After a little over a month of getting feedback from you folks....and reading threads...and weighing options whick kept getting more limited... just last week I had pretty much decided the lesser of all the evils was to buy a less sophisticated gun that wasn't too big to carry in my purse...something like a .38....because I won't have a lot of practice at having to go thru all the logistical steps of getting it out of the purse and pointing it correctly in a parking lot scenario...so I figured the smaller and the less sophisticated would reduce errors on my part but do the job if needed. It looks like I need to go back to the drawing board now though. Ugh. Great thread....thanks all. Oh, and whoever said her mind would change a lot was spot on.

I am certain that she will find a manner to carry concealed within her COACH purse! Don't be so cheap! Go out, buy her the COACH she wants and let her worry about it! It is, after all, her purse, her weapon, her choice.
Be courteous to all, but intimate with few, and let those few be well tried before you give them your confidence!
