I know what you're saying... how can they side with the offenders in a volatile situation where a use of force is necessary?
I guess I would respond with "get used to it". It's the way things are going these days. If it's new to you, its only because Texas is behind the curve on scapegoating cops whenever a citizen has a problem with what we do or how we do it.
I can tell you two days off is peanuts where I live. If it had been me, I'd have gotten 45 days, PLUS another 10 days for putting a dent in the hood of the squad. Five days if just the paint was scuffed.
When the backup approaches, you can kind of see the kid's feet shuffling around, as if he was about to bolt. No-Shirt is standing there yelling, looks like he's about to intervene. The Hat Cop was deep into an adrenaline dump by that point. I'm just speculating, but he probably just wanted to stabilize the kid so he wouldn't run, but couldn't because of No-Shirt's advancing on him. The stabilization got a little carried away and became a 'throw'.
Sound good?

This career is not a sprint, it is a marathon.
I was thinking, put the kid down HARD so 'No-shirt' wouldn't want to get frisky. I have only been through 3 DAAT classes but I have been told by several instructors if you put one down hard you, A) disorient subject a, and B) make it so that the others know you aren't messing around.
You guys have years of experience of getting into fights, and multiple subject factor kicking in, that is what I have been taught. May be wrong or out dated, but that was how I was trained. I am open to any discussions on the subject.
I don't know about all of you guys, but what about that redhead.. My daddy always told me, if you can't get a real one, get the next closest thing. I have been hitting up my wife to turn her head into a crimson beacon. So far, no such luck.
Oh wait.. you were referring to tactics.. my bad..
This could be a prime example of why OC spray sucks against certain people. Not sure if no-shirt got sprayed, but if he did, it sure didn't effect him much.

Actually if you look really close it appears that the officer has pepper spray in his hand.
I always take these kinds of videos with a grain of salt. I didn't see what happened beforehand... for all I know the cuffed guy was biting the first officer just before the backup arrived.
However, if there was a suspension issued then it may very well have been uncalled for.
Plus one. That officer was pumped w/ adrenaline. When the backup officer arrived, the officer moved the squirrelly kid to the car. Ok, the kid was light. I doubt the officer meant to toss him to that extent. But, in this line of work, it's always best to make your first attempt your last.
This officer was done an injustice...

That was an I'M THE PO PO SLAM. The scene was already de-escalating when back up showed; he added fuel to fire. Then he let maybe seven angry people come onto the scene. Funny stuff.
Holy crap, that was a heck of a slam, that cop should check out the UFC in his spare time. Oh, and don't feel too bad about the cop getting suspended, just think of all the torment that the kid got when he went back home, and everybody found out that he got his *** handed to him by a cop, on video. I'd say that would make it worth it, to me at least.
Btw, JFYI, the officer was reinstated - after further review, his use of force was found reasonable...
