While true, it should also be noted the 'my problems are everyone's problems' mentality. Where is the personal responsibility? You were speeding. You get a ticket. BLAME THE COP! These days no one has to be responsible for everything, and it is starting to impact our society in a great way!

Maybe if more beatings were handed out, things would be different?

I have no problem with the moving violation fines you just quoted. You have to make it hurt some to change peoples' behaviors. I do disagree with high fines for nonmoving violations. That's way too much for a busted headlight.

A couple of years ago, I got nailed by photo radar for doing 45 in a 20 mph school zone. In my defense, it was an alternative school that consisted of some temporary buildings so it didn't look like a school. Not in my defense, I didn't see the sign that was clearly there. It cost me about $275 and I have no complaints. I shouldn't have had my head up my *** and the fine made sure I pay more attention in the future.

That fine would be $515 here, and 6 points on your license (12 points gets your DL suspended). The fine schedule is $10 for every mile over the limit, then doubled for it being a school zone. Then the $15 court fee.
