I think AWD is a good option for a police vehicle. AWD's tend to handle better at higher speeds than a rear wheel drive.

I will just wait for the msp to test them at the proving grounds before I pass judgment.

Nope, Holden is alive and well and rumors of their death were greatly exaggerated. They laid off some white-collars in '09 and removed a shift from one of their biggest assembly lines in South Australia, but had a 20% increase in profit as of February '10.

You guys are too rough on the new PPV... the original Taurus PPV in the 90s was an alternate vehicle for Police work, not "THE" PPV. Now, the Impala was "THE" PPV from GM, and that did suck donkey balls.

My Intrepid (FWD) was a very good PPV (and I loathe Dodge products). Fastest and best handling I've had up to that point. Mind you, mine was without cage, so room wasn't really a factor.

As was said, after the MSP tests would be the time to offer the good and the bad. I cannot see Ford putting all of its PPV market into a car that was not thoroughly tested; like Chevy did with the Impala.

I do not like the Charger simply because of the blind spots. They are riDONKulous. I am interested in the Caprice and the Interceptor. I cannot see my Department shelling out the buckies for the Carbon.

One can only be so Open Minded before all that mind **** spills out, stains and ruins everything.

I like how Ford baited us in by saying they were building a brand new car just for LEO use, then just giving us another recycled PC.

I'm already pushing for the Caprice. My department won't shell out the cash for the AWD Ecoboost so we would end up with a curb-heavy under-powered FWD V6. :-/

I think Ford really screwed the pooch with this one. Maintenance cost on a FWD platform alone is enough to kill the deal.

Apparently they are going to use a BMW diesel engine.

The agreement calls for delivery of BMW's 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder diesel engines complete with cooling and exhaust gas system and 6-speed automatic transmission for the Carbon E7 rear-wheel drive purpose-built police vehicle.

    In the U.S. market 335d and X5 35d, the straight-six diesel produces 265-horsepower at 4,200 rpm and 425 lb-ft of peak torque between 1,750 and 2,250 rpm, while returning 23mpg city / 36mpg highway and 19mpg city / 26mpg highway respectively.
