Greg is awful touchy about someone or something eating his goat isn't he? Off topic, but I do have a great recipe for a camel/goat/chicken dinner.

I'm not touchy but the problem is that people are uninformed. Every time a new car comes out it is automatically the fastest thing on the road.

The hat won't bother me but at least you'll get to ride in a man's car for once...

Now I am not against turbos per-say, I have a 87 Grand National, but we all know how patrol vehicles are beat to hell on a daily basis. I also prefer the Carbon Motors car.
The carbon motors car has a turbo charger (they call it "forced induction" and it's diesel, so should be more reliable than gasoline turbo). Does anyone know what engine Carbon Motors is using?

Well Smart Car is coming out with a new car, and it will automatically be the fastest thing on the road. I hear it can split the space/ time continuem allowing you to ticket speeders before they can even start their car!

That Carbon Motors does look interested, but they aren't starting to build until 2012 or so. They claim it will have a service life of around 250k miles. The only problem is the inside of a cruiser gets pretty awful after 100k miles of nasties being thrown in and out the back. My last department left line vehicles going with 150k or more on them! I wanted to scrub them out with something radio active...

    I personally want the Caprice.

And if it ends up being pretty decent then we'll be driving them when they come out

I had one of the old ones with the LT1 back in the day and it was fast. This is one is designed for LEO work, so that is a big plus. The Dodge looks meaner and I wish the Caprice was more mean looking. In the end, if it can haul ***, I'm good!

Honestly bro, this is Texas. As long as your driving a vehicle with a white top and black sides you'll still hear the butt puckers on the highway, even if its a black and white pinto ;)

Carbon will be a lease vehicle with a supposed 10 year 300,000 mile life, the rear compartment is completely sealed of from the rest of the car with a drain plug in the floor so you can just hose the nastiness out the bottom. Basically the only time you will smell your perp is when you're putting them in and taking them out. As for the engine, I just don't know about that. It's a clean diesel that supposedly has gotten beyond the need for a warm up period. I don't know how, but apprently they are ready to go right after start up.

I asked that question since I have a take home and I knew a diesel, up here anyway, not properly warmed up when it's 20 below will explode if driven hard without being warmed up. They said it's good though. So I don't know, I'm not a diesel mechanic.

Interesting. Didn't know they would explode. They could get around that with existing technology (plug in) for a 'cold weather package'. I'm not a diesel mechanic either, but am a fan. It would be cool to put a Banks Power sticker on the side of the squad.

I'm glad to see that they are starting to build purpose built LEO vehicles though. Especially the seats! It is a good step in the right direction.
