The properties of the picture say "Acura TL," (img2.netcarshow.com/Acura-TL_2007_800x600_wallpaper_03.jpg) but, the picture is a machine silver C6 (2005-present) Corvette

This is yet another useless turd from Ford.

I was excited when I heard about this, now (as far as a big 3 car is concerned) the Caprice looks like the best option. I still think Carbon has the best option.
I agree, we won't use them if their front wheel drive. Plus I've seen the new taurus, it's a mid sized car. Looks like we will probably go all chargers or caprices. On the good note, our shop guy got to inspect the new caprice as it was touring through the state. I've never seen him go gaga over a car but he was in love with it. He said the trunk space was spectacular and that the spare is under the trunk floor. Visability is out of the car is as good if not better than the CV. Lots of interior room, the camero front suspension set up, and a 6.0L V8.
Excuse me Officer, I have a stupid Question. "No problem, I've got a stupid answer for you!"

The pic I see is an Acura TL...weird. I'll find a different pic.

Just a general reply to other comments made. As for the front wheel drive I don't know if you noticed but there will also be an AWD option. You would think Ford would have learned from the Impala that FWD and police vehicles don't mix.

As for the twin turbo I agree with other comments. That just gives another part that can fail, and with the abuse of police vehicles it will most likely be sooner than later. I would also venture to say that it won't be a cheap fix. I don't know if Ford thinks they are breaking ground here, but I'm sure there is a reason police cars were always naturally aspirated until now.

Greg, I know you're not recommending the new unit, just putting it out there for discussion.

I noticed the AWD option tied to the higher output engine too but the Ford AWD has been problematic in minivans and some of the other cars they've used it in with similar power trains. Let's just say it hasn't been the most reliable, and has very high repair costs. How it will hold up to more power and police use(abuse) is something I don't have a lot of confidence in.

I agree, not to mention dependability and Ford aren't synonymous IMO. I will say though that right now the Crown Vic is the most dependable cruiser offered, even though they are severely underpowered for the weight of the car.

I think the CVPI is a great patrol vehicle, I mean if you think about it that car hasn't undergone a major design chage in over 10 years! Sheet metal, but hardly anything else. It's definately not perfect, but I don't know what head was stuck up where when they started designing this thing. We are just starting to make a transition over to F150's from our Silverados, and I admit I like the F150 better. But as far as a car is concerned, I would vote against this thing.

Greg likes the Chevy because it is a G8 and will eat his Goat.

??? The G8 is a Pontiac, but technically a Holden (Australian GM), as is the 2004-2006 GTO. The 2011 Caprice is also derived from a Holden vehicle. The 6.0 liter is an American built engine to my knowledge (was used in Corvettes) and no a G8 will not beat a GTO. G8's are about 25 horsepower less and designed more for luxury. I should know my dad has one.

I saw some videos posted on here where G-8's were eating Goats lunches. That's about all I know about the differences in them.

BTW, do I own stock in Holden, too? Did they go belly up with the American GM?

I hate the Taurus.. Why in the hell are they picking the Taurus to build a P.I. with? This is a horrible decision. Our fleet said we are going to the Caprice, so, that works for me.

I think Holden is in good shape but who knows...

I'm talking stock vs. stock. Those cars are so close in drivetrain (identical, really) a little work to either/or will put one above the other..

cntryboy: Yeah the Caprice should be an all around great car, RWD, big V8, and made by GM.

Should be a great car. Would be an All around great car had it not been made by GM....
