My phone number is listed under my wifes first initial and middle name as her last. All of our friends and those who need it know it. We always know when a Salesman is calling when he asks for Mr. Susan.

Until recently, I managed to maintain my P.O. FWIW, that pipl site is scary. It even goes so far as to access an internet gaming website and has my "handle" associated with my name. Consequently, I can't help but wonder how long it will be until IB sells our ID's ?

Also you may want to see if your state and department allow you to get a court order to suppress public records. Locally in AZ the state Superior court sends a notice to the county recorder to seal deeds, titles, voter registration, etc, so that they are no longer accessible to the public. It's allowed here by state law I believe. YMMV.

I know. He is obviously a confused man that is very far away from home. I was expecting a warrant to pop up from Florida, but out of the pickup radius.

I like visiting Florida. But the humidity makes it a no-go for me.

I am still shocked that a judge/ magistrate would issue a warrant for that. Especially in Texas.

I really hope there is more to that than what the article suggested. The implications for doing off duty work are very worrysome.

Why was he following you in the first place? Was it road rage (in his mind?) or was he looking for directions. If it (reason) for following was in your post I missed it. Great that it all worked out.

Road rage apparently. Because I beeped my horn at him. Apparently, that offended him. Where we were at, at that time of night, you don't stop to ask for directions.

    I'll summarize:

Viperphi beeped his horn at him for failing to indicate. I'm not a hoodrat but apparently in either florida or ohio horn beeping is code for "you have a small P*nis." At which point, being challenged on his manhood in front of his pregnant wife, the small man was demanding satisfaction. Which he got.

For what it's worth and your mileage may vary and all the other caveats. A few local trainors here tell their officers during FTO to have at a minimum their radio, handcuffs and off-duty firearm with them to and from work (some departments here don't allow unaccompanied wearing of uniform or duty weapon during FTO). As I understand it, the reason is for possible accident/injury to and from work and whether it's covered as duty injury. YMMV.

As for the Dallas person, did he have is radio? The prosecutor seems to have purposely avoided the Grand Jury and it seems that instead of defending the misdemeanor on the evidence, he was discounting the need to go to GJ. Almost like he knew a GJ would never go along with his nonsense.

Did the Dallas officer have his radio? I would think that if you had a job as security and the reason you got that job was because of being PO, you would bring radio to the job? IS that not the case? I don't think what he did was wrong, much less a crime. But if my buddy did that I'd ask what the heck he was thinking? Did he have a vest? No backup? No intermediate use of force alternative like baton/spray/taser? Urinating in public is worth deadly force escalation? This being Texas, I'd presume the guy to be armed so weapon would be ready. Just get on the phone and follow this clown home and wait for uniformed backup. He's well within his authority to do it, but it seems a rather rash decision. I would hate to have read that the officer was shot by drunk CCW holder who didn't think he was a cop and they both shot at each other.

This is completely different from viperphi where he is in uniform, has radio, and vest (presumably), and is approached aggressively multiple times by unknown subject. I think he even called for assistance before the guy got out and would have preferred a marked patrol car make the stop with lights but things happened too quickly.
