I doubt anyone would retrieve an item without the owner consenting to the search but YMMV.

The reason I ask about the drugs and search is that if they can impound it, in Arizona I believe the car will be "inventoried" (is that true in Ohio as well?). If they find anything illegal in the car during inventory it can be used as evidence. If "your man" was a jacktard during the whole thing (i.e. getting irate at officer because of dealership problem, refusing search but wanting to be let go with just a warning, etc, etc) don't expect a break. We do the tow inventories here.

    Well lets see...in Oklahoma...

You have 30 days/1 month from the day you purchase the vehicle to get the vehicle registered in your name, if you don't thats considered "Failure to pay Taxes due to State". Generally, most officers won't cite you for 30 days after your first 30 days is up, but at 90 days they are COMMANDED to impound the vehicle. It would be just like if you didn't renew your tag or registration every year.

As has been said, whatever deal you had with the dealership you need to take it up with them. Its not a criminal matter, its civil. So feel free to take them to court and try to get reimburst for fines and costs.
