YES! Last night was my last night of FTO, and tonight I get to hit the road as a full fledged Deputy! I'm pretty excited! Got my real radio number (not my trainee number) put on my car today at the garage and have already been in contact with my district partner who is going to show me the ropes tonight (since I'm going to be in a whole new precinct of the county)!
I'm really jazzed about it and just wanted to share that with everyone!
The only thing that I'm worried about is that I'm switching to midnights, and I've not been able to get a whole bunch of sleep today... Otherwise, totally stoked!

Congrats! Wow, new baby and graveyard, what a combination......
Once I got used to it, I loved graveyard. The only people I had to deal with were drunks, crooks, garbagemen and newspaper carriers. It did take a while to handle the last few hours of the shift.
Put aluminum foil on your bedroom windows to block the light and you might need to wear some foam rubber earplugs for a while to get enough sleep.

My County Agency did the same thing to me. Trained me on dayshift in an area I was initially unfamiliar with, then turned me lose on night shift in a District I was even more unfamiliar with, in a car that had a blown Police Radio speaker, with a Dispatcher that spoke bad Gullah and a 3rd hand map that was 10 years old.
I can't remember how many phone calls I had to make to get understandable addresses or information, back before cell phones and payphones still had doors.My Inalienable Rights were given to me by God and NOT by the Government.
