Same here. I've always gotten to work at least 1/2 early, usually more. I needed time to transition into my cop mode. However, at quitting time it wasn't a good idea to be between me and the door.

Not bad, since I'm re-writing old, writing new, and retructuring policy for the department. An added perk is the ability to write proposals and pilot programs, two things I'm doing already. I'm trying to take what I know we need on the street and make it happen. Plus, I have given my email to everyone I work with and told them to email me if they come accross policy or procedural issues while they work and I'll see what I can do to get answers or address the issue. It's a nice spot to be in, actually. I miss putting chokeholds an people who need to be choked but hey - there's always OT on the street to sign up for!
