I prefer my "uniform" over either option... but you know we will have to meet for a beer after work soon and I will be sure a pic makes it to RP.![]()

It ain't that bad once you get accustomed to it. And it presents the desired "image." Mine came off, though, working crimes scenes.
I very much enjoy the uniform. It alleviates the "matching" of colors, the "Did I already wear this tie this week?" ...the switching of holsters to match the belt and shoes, blah, blah, blah. No, I am not upper echelon GQ, but I know how to present myself. (Cass will disagree, but she obviously is unaware that straight cut shirt bottoms are acceptable worn un-tucked.)
What I think I liked the best was working SEU and UC narcotics as far as duty clothing went; although you had to dress for how you were presenting yourself to the "target."
I even have some pics of me wearing a long haired wig, beanie, OD field jacket and jeans. Some of the PD officers I worked with did not recognize me until I spoke to them.
But, a well pressed tailored uniform is the bomb.
This career is not a sprint, it is a marathon.
I dont know anyone named Pat. Sorry.
I spent more time not wearing than doing it, but never cared that much one way or the other. Both had their advantages doing the job, depending on what you were doing.
The crimes I arrested people for while I wore a tie sent them away a lot longer than the ones I arrested in uniform. I gotta say that. After about 10 years, I pretty much got my bellyful of family beefs, neighborhood disturbances, etc. I found a niche I really liked investigating major crimes.
I did have to do a punishment tour working drugs because I called my Lt. a fool (he was also the chief's brother in law), but other than that, I liked plain clothes.
Now, being an office drone, I never did. That's not being a cop to me.

I told him that since I only had three homicides working, I'd be happy to drop everything and run his fool's errand. And yes, I rolled my eyes when I said it. He took offense to it.....
Within 2 hours, I was out of homicide and assigned to drugs. I came back to homicide, he stayed a fool. Actually, I built a little empire when I was in dope and ended up traveling all over the US and even testifying to a US Senate committee and having a one on one conversation for over an hour with an Oregon Senator (Hatfield). And I rubbed his nose in it every chance I got. He was a kissass no one would talk to.
Normally, I love just about everybody, but there are a handful of former commander personnel that I go out of my way to insult every chance I see them.

I'm here and no one else is. Should I be worried?

Of every one hundred men, ten should not even be here. Eighty are nothing but targets. Nine are real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, for they make the battle. Ah, but the One... One of them is a Warrior... He will bring the others back.

Can't speak for others, but I am in the office by 6:20am every day. Usually wear a uniform at least one day a week if not two. I usually get to see at least two roll calls a day.
Apparently the day starts between 0700 and 1000. I'm an 0700 guy, cause that's how I roll.
