To simplify the LEO verification process, and to set forward a fair and impartial system, the following guidelines will apply:
1. Those who provide the necessary information to verify that they are a full-time Police Officer for a municipal, county, state or federal government agency (not a "special police officer" for a security company), a Deputy Sheriff who has attended a police academy (not a corrections-only academy), a State Trooper/Highway Patrolman, or criminal investigator with a municipal, county, state or federal government agency have previously been and will always remain eligible for verification. Individuals who are outside these guidelines will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, with final decision to be made my moderating staff.
2. Reserves/auxiliary officers who have (1) full police authority and (2) equivalent training to a full-time LEO may be verified, IF they provide the contact information for a department representative (department training officer, academy training officer, etc.) that can verify they have equivalent training and duties (we should not have to find this person for them, and giving a number to some receptionist/admin assistant in a Training Division won't suffice).
3. Position that are "LE related" (corrections officers, court bailiffs, special police officers for companies, military police/security forces, government regulation investigators, government background investigators with no police powers, private sector investigators, etc.) do not qualify due to the limited scope of their law enforcement authority (if any). We will and alway have made every attempt to welcome these members just like any other non-verified member, but for purposes of a fair policy (i.e. having one corrections officer verified and another not will cause problems), these positions are ineligible for verification. Individuals who are outside these guidelines will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, with final decision to be made my moderating staff.
4. Those who leave law enforcement permanently (by resigning, being terminated, or for any other reason besides legitimate retirement) must report their leaving to a moderator or site administrator, and their Verified LEO tag will be removed (an exception for voluntary leaving LE with 15 years of service is listed below). Failure to do so may result in consequences up to and including permanent banning from RP. Those who leave law enforcement temporarily (ex: changing from one agency to another, sick/pregnancy leave, etc.) will have one (1) year to be reinstated into a sworn position before a re-verification will be necessary.
5. Officers who are retired honorably (after necessary years of service, medical reasons, or any honorable condition) have previously been and will remain eligible for verification. Members who already hold Verified LEO status may retain their Verified LEO status on this site with fifteen (15) or more years of sworn LE service, however, this rule does not apply to those not already holding Verified LEO status. Individuals who are outside these guidelines will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, with final decision to be made my moderating staff.
6. Those who are currently Verified LEO members on this site will be "grandfathered" into the new policy without any re-verification.
7) This process does take time, therefore, you'll need to allow 10+ days for completion and implementation.
