Well, I applied in Feburary and I just met with my BI today and found out that everything looks good. When she called me yesterday to arrange for a time today to head over to HQ to have my fingerprints and photo taken, I thought that was a good sign.
When we left HQ she let me know that my background was complete and gave me a hard time about having to verify employment with 18 employers (I was a professional actor. Lucky for her I wasn't very good, or else it would have been much more.) The home visit with my wife will be conducted next month, and my oral board interview will be held sometime in December.
I went on a ride-a-long last week and now I'm really hooked. I plan to go on a few more with different divisions on different shifts. I will say though, that I'm one of the "older" applicants at 33. The officer I rode with was 24 and I began to wonder what in the world I did with my life. But, I also know I wasn't ready at 24 either.
So, it's back to the running, sit-ups, and push ups. I can think of less torturous methods than plyometrics, but the results are showing. Thanks to all who have given advice along the way (Joey, Switchback, Piggy, RetDetSgt). I'll post again in December with what will hopefully be a message about a job offer.
