    Windsheild cracked due to...

some punk kids hitting golf balls next to my parents house. Unfortunately, I do not know where they live, but I have a general idea of where. I asume police can not take any action regarding this, since I have no names or residence. But what should I do? Do i start knocking on doors, hoping to find them or their parents, and go that route? Or should I just get on the phone with my insurance. I dont even want to think about the deductible. And I don't want to get pulled over for a spiderweb'd windsheild by a cop. What would you do? I was parked legally in front of my parents, and these kids were hitting golf balls on the green belt near their house. I come back out an hour later, and find my windsheild shattered. I have a feeling they live across the street in a culdasac, but I am not certain. Any suggestions?

You don't have a suspect. Simply saying I believe it to be these kids is not going to fly. Unfortunately, you are stuck with the bill for this one. However, if you have glass coverage, you may not have a deductible to pay. I don't.

Ditto. It's a leap to go from assuming someone is responsible to proving it. Unless you can come up with a witness willing to testify, you're stuck with it.

    Ditto here.

Glass was deemed part of Comprehensive coverage (I think) a long time ago in SC. No deductible.

In fact, Glass installers now camp out at car washes looking for chips and such on cars coming in to be washed around here.

It pays off for them, too, because that's how I had my windshield repaired from a deep chip that my vehicle had when I bought it used.

They came to my house and replaced it, no biggie.

Call your insurance company and ask about it. You just may be surprised.

I have had my windshield replaced twice on the same car, never paid a penny for it.
