Don't feel too bad. Per state law, I can only get a maximum of 2% per year on my pension.

We didn't get any COLA at all this budget year.

Maricopa County didn't get anything, either.

From what I understand, wages are going to be the big thing in my old union's negotiations this year. They've been getting pretty small raises the past 10 years and fallen behind. That won't affect me though, my pension is based on what I was making when I retired.

I got a 2% COLA in July, and expect my merit increase next month to be 6%, so 8% overall.
Last July I got the exact same thing, so 16% in two years. Guess I can't complain...

They did not take away our merit increase, otherwise known as longevity pay, due on your hire anniversary, but the COLA was frozen due to the economic downturn. The only people hurt on this one are those who are “topped out” on the merit scale.
They did make a promise to adjust appropriately once the economy recovers.
This happened to me for a few years in a row when that twit Carter was president, but the city made good by giving a rather large across the board raise once the national economy recovered.
We shall see.

Oh, yeah we finally got longevity pay. I was lucky that we got in our contract early enough before I retired that it increased my pension. We top out at 25 years so I got a pretty good raise.
I could only imagine the incestuous situations we'd have if we had true merit raises....
