Oh, yeah we finally got longevity pay. I was lucky that we got in our contract early enough before I retired that it increased my pension. We top out at 25 years so I got a pretty good raise.

I could only imagine the incestuous situations we'd have if we had true merit raises....:eek:

My County had "merit raises", but they were only in theory.

I never heard of anyone at the SO qualifying for one of them.

We had longevity and COLA's, but after about 20 years they no longer rewarded people for sticking around...in hindsight, I guess that should have been a hint.

We get our regular Step increase in pay this year. May or May not get a COLA increase. County didn't approve one specifically for the S.O.. However, Sheriff told us if we can reduce our Gasoline usage by 10% overall, He'll use as much of the savings as he can to give us at least 3% COLA increase.

We shall see.. A 5-7% increase in pay would be nice total.

Yes you do. After 10 years being retired and 62 years old, you get a COLA.

If you are out 10 years and not 62 they take it out of your variable which really isn't a COLA :confused:
