    Karma, She is a bit*h

At 2230 tonight, I was dispatched to do a pick up from Northside Hospital. On my way back, I was passed by three sport bikes being pursued by two Atlanta traffic units. As they passed me, I thought damn! They are never going to catch those guys.

Well, they passed me and soon were way out of sight. I continue on to my drop point and as I get to my exit, what do I come up on? Two of the three bikes that passed me had wrecked and bodies were tossed all over the highway.

I have no idea of the condition of those two idiots, but maybe, if they are still alive, they learned a lesson.

Was it karma or Darwin's theory at work there. We need to kill the stupidest off sometimes I guess, for the sake of the species.

I have a reason for saying "karma".

Here in the ATL, there is a real problem with kids who get these high powered sport bikes, and get on the highway after dark, and try and start a police pursuit, knowing that some agencies will not pursue, or just for the thrill of it.

It's so bad, that the GSP has started a task force just to go after these idiots.

As someone who rode sportbikes for years I can tell you that just about everyone I've ever met couldn't ride one well enough to outrun the police. Sadly, I've seen a few try and the result was always the same. Either they go to jail after they get out of the hospital or they go right away.

I don't know what would make someone want to try to out run a peace officer. If you run and they catch you, you are going to have double if not triple the problems you would of had before. Not to mention it's stupid and puts innocent people in harms way.

I agree totally. Ambition vs ability at it's finest.

I would back myself on a sport bike against most cop cars, but that doesn't mean I would do it.

I was stopped on more than one occasion for "slightly" exceeding the speed limit, and NEVER did anything other than man up and accept what was coming to me. I knew the speed limit, I chose to brake it (or was recklessly indifferent/stupid enough not to pay attention).

NEVER would I ride like a moron when there were other motorists around, and often, due to my nature and attitude, the officers that did stop me for whatever stupid thing I did, would cut me slack after talking to me.

If I had run, and got caught, there is no way on this earth I would have received (or deserved) any leniency.

There is a time and place for this sort of behaviour and the road is not the place regardless of the time.

About a month ago one of the traffic unit guys I work with was operating laser on a 45mph overpass. He clocked two guys on sport bikes doing 106mph.. Racing each other. He attempted to catch up but they quickly fled. They blew through red lights, weaving through traffic, etc. Traffic unit of course stopped trying to catch up and just drove in their direction to see what he would find..

One idiot was on a hyaboosa (SP?) and of course, was running A LOT faster than the other one.

Well, about two miles from my house on a major U.S. Hwy, the one on the hyaboosa opened up the throttle and left the other one in the dust. A Chevy Avalanche pulled out across the Highway.. Witness statements, crash evidence, etc, placed the hyaboosa at about 160mph when he T-Boned the Avalanche. Knocked the Avalanche into the southbound lanes from the northbound lanes. And the Bike rider's head exploded inside of his helmet. What was left of his helmet and head rolled down the road along with other body parts.

He was the only one hurt. Other bike rider was charged with vehicular manslaughter I believe. Driver of the avalanche was fine, but arrested for driving with no valid Driver's License.

Some of the rider's are just plain idiots...
