    strange or stupid side/ot jobs

I went to a local pro wrestling show this weekend a few towns over with my brother. Yes I know wrestling is fake, but it is one of my guilty pleasures. Well besides the usual cast of rednecks, there was an off duty cop working. I kept reading the look on his face and him mouthing the words " what am I doing here?"

So my question for you folks, is what is the oddest or dumbest side job you were ever forced or volunteer to work. Just hoping to get some good stories to try and lift my mood while being stuck at work.

The sheriff's office I started out with would work the Talladega NASCAR races twice a year, and deputies would work security details. The full-time deputies worked it for OT, but those of us who were reserves did so to build our reserve treasury account (which was supposed to go towards buying new gear, training, and upkeep on our designated patrol units, but that was often not the case... but I digress). If you like NASCAR I suppose it was heaven, but for me it was aweful. I do remember one time, though, I saw a fraternity brother there and was talking to him near the concession area. As we talked, an older woman, well past her prime as far as looks (if she ever had a "prime") was flashing a group of guys, who were hooting and snapping pictures. She was literally no more than 10 feet away from me. I coughed loudly and said, "Excuse me, ma'am." Her husband hurried over, pulled her shirt down as if drawing the shades to a window, and said, "I'm so sorry, officer. Please don't arrest her, I'll make sure she doesn't do that again. She's drunk, but I'll watch her." The look on that guy's face was absolutely pathetic, like a kid who accidently flushed his gold fish down the toilet without realizing what he'd done. I laughed it off and told him to keep her out of trouble, but I'm pretty sure if any other deputy had seen a flabby showing like that she probably would have been arrested.

You liked it, you know it ;) :p

I was down at MIS doing Fire/EMS for one of the races 2 years ago, and I know EXACTLY what you are talking about.

haha yeah I remember those brings back painful memories. During the Florida-Georgia game, my fraternity would always host a tent party and we would have all the intoxicated 50 somethings come up trying to get in on our ice luge. Normally they would try to flash us but we just made sure they were of age ( trust me they had wrinkles older than 21) and let them have it although some of them were able to sneak in a flash much to our dismay. Any one else have any funny OT side job stories?

We had a single engine plane crash with one fatality. They wouldn't allow the body or plane to be moved until the FAA got there. It took them about 10 hours to get there, so I had 10 hours of OT to stand out in the middle of a field with a dead body and plane crash. It was the middle of the night and nothing around. It was the longest 10 hours I've ever been through. I was bored to tears.

The wrestling shows are good money.
The average age of the one I worked at
the college was about 7 and kids outnumbered
    adults 4 to one.
    What a wild crowd:p

Step Shows at the college were interesting also.
They were billed as cultural events.
There I was, the only white guy in the building
and I dont even like rap.
    (not a racist statement, FACT)
(I got a complaint after saying that)
The boss used to volunteer me because he
used to say I could get the job done without a riot.
    wHATEVER.......................
The fraternity and sorieties put on a heck of a show though

We have a thing here called a "B&S Ball". Stands for bachelor and spinsters and only occurs in the country. Comes from when the country folk working in remote areas had few chacnes to get together in a social environment and meet members of the opposite sex.

Nowadays it is the country boys and girls getting together and drinking copious amounts of booze. If you where to ever go you must expect that your entire outfit will be destroyed by the end of it. It is customary for lads to have their sleeves and pockets ripped off and girls wear ball gowns with boots.

    All class!!:p

They are a heap of fun and there are basically very few rules. There is usually no problems as everyone is there for a great time and understands that if someone comes up and pours their drink over them, it is all in the spirit of the night.

I worked one a few years back. We wore our rain coats even though it was not cold or wet, but just to keep dry from all the alcohol being sprayed around.

We kicked on guy out for trying to take my partners hat, and had no other problems, except for all the girls trying to get us to pose for photos while kissing us. HARD TO TAKE!!! :D
