CHILLICOTHE, Ohio -- One local official says it's a terrible thing to happen right before Memorial Day.

Twenty-one gravestones were vandalized this week at Greenlawn Cemetery in Ross County. Scioto Township Trustee Tom Straub says stones were kicked over and many had footprints on them. Police say two were broken.

Also, a glass trinket was broken off the headstone of Larry Cox, the Chillicothe police officer killed by John Parsons in 2005. Parsons later broke out of jail and eluded authorities for nearly three months.

Police say the cemetery vandalism apparently took place Wednesday night. They were notified when a township employee saw several of the knocked-over stones.

I hope they catch the little punks. If not, I hope Cox catches the little punks in his own way.

I had a call of a vandalism in a Cemetery a few years back. This punk ran into a head stone and left part of the tail light behind. I was able to figure out the type of vehicle it was and when I asked mom to look at her car, what do you know, the puzzle piece matched. Her mother still took her side and said it could not have been her child. :rolleyes:
