question for police officers

hi i have quick question. i was recently watching cops the tv show when the two officer responded to a bar fight. when they arrived there were already other officers on the scene arresting the two parties for fighting. the two police officers went to the bar tender to fined out what happened. the bar tender told them that the two parties started fist fighting over an argument. the bar tender tells you that he called the police first and then took out a baseball bat and hit one of the parties to seperate the fight. Can you arrest the bar tender for this or would you not? :confused:

i am taking my exam on June 14. i have two quick question for any police officer to help me with.

2. you are a police officer who is called to a local bar for a fight. when you arrive on the scene you notice that there is already two police officer on the scene arresting the two parties for fighting. you go into the bar to get information from the bar tender who witnessed the fight. the bar tender tells you that the fight started over an argument. the tender tells you that he called the police and took out his basball bat and hit one of the parties involved in the fight to separate it. What is the next best course of action for you to take?

A. take down the information in your memo pad and arrest the bar tender for hitting the one of the parties with the baseball bat.

B. take down the information in your memo pad and thank the bar tender for giving you the information.

C. none of the above.

D. discipline the bar tender for separating the fight.

So, what is it. Is it a test question or did you see it on an episode of COPS?? :rolleyes:

To answer your question, what would YOU do? That is what they are asking. Do you have common sense? Have you even taken any CJ type classes? Simple.

Your user name says your a cop. Read the rules.

If your going into law enforcement, get some thicker skin. You're going to face a LOT more harsh things directed at you by the public then the above.

for everyone on this forum i am sorry for poasting the stupid question. i do have commen sense and i got a 93% on my police test for new york state police which i will be possibly going to. so i do have commen sense i was simply asking the question to see what other people would say. i thought this place would be a helpful one to get information and share my interest with other people. i am really not that upset by what people on this forum said. i was just a little disapointed by it.

It is very informative here. It is filled with tons of nice, respectful people and police officers.


I don't understand your first couple sentences either.

Not trying to be mean either, in no way, check out Mozilla Firefox (Google it). It is a browser, that incorporates spell check right into it. It has helped me tremendously and its just easier to read.

But seriously, the questions they ask you on a written don't want to know what WE know. They want to see what level you are at. You are expected to get SOME wrong. That is normal. You don't want to go into Law Enforcement getting 100% on the written just because you asked people do you? Then you hit the streets and go uh???

Just take the advice, and remember to have thicker skin.

I'm sure you are still wondering the answer to your question so I'll ask you this to help you out. Did the bartender break any law by committing battery on the person(s) he struck with the bat regardless if it was to break up the fight? Did the bartender have another option, such as to call 911? Did the bartender HAVE to step in and use possible deadly force? Was anyones life in danger? Most likely not.

I would not have answered the original question (as others didn't), but it would not have upset me that you asked... perhaps you didn't know any better.

BUT-

Then we TOLD YOU why we wouldn't answer the question... and rather than listen to the answer and learning from it, you opted to continue to get the answer you sought by LYING in a new question.

If you continue this behavior, you will not last 2 years in Law Enforcement, even if you do get hired, and that is a fact.
