Carroll County Times1 injured in Md. 27 crash

SNYDERSBURG — One man was listed in serious but stable condition following a two-vehicle accident Friday morning.
Anthony Eugene Haines, 28, of the 2600 block of Manchester Road in Westminster was taken by ambulance to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore following the crash shortly after 10 a.m., police said.
As of Friday evening, Haines was listed in serious but stable condition, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
Timothy Wayne Hawkins Jr., 21, of the 800 block of Regent Street in Westminster ran a stop sign at Sullivan Road and collided with a 1990 Honda Civic driven by Haines that was traveling south on Md. 27, according to Maryland State Police.
Although it was not raining at the time of the collision, the road was wet from rain earlier in the day, according to police.
Police said Hawkins told them he tried to stop his 1997 Ford truck, but he slid into the intersection.
Hawkins was not injured, police said.
The northbound lane of Md. 27 was shut down for about 20 minutes because of the accident.
The accident is still under investigation, police said.
