Suffolk / Nassau / NJSP WCPD Salary TAX

These departments all pay very well, right over 110,000 after overtime - for experienced troops.
BUT don't you get thrown into a different tax bracket after you make 100,000 - wouldn't you be paying 50% of your salary to the government? I'm wondering if taxes are the same in NY and NJ / and whether or not the 50% thing is in-effect after you hit $100,000?

Thanks Joey, but I've been there and couldn't get the answers I wanted. I was hopeing someone who's been paying taxes for a while could just outright tell me. Particularly the difference between taxation in NY and NJ, if there's any.

Also, bare in mind - I'm an unmarried man without kids (any that I know of, anyway). So, that means I have to pay more than say a married fellow with a kid or two, right?
