NASSAU COUNTY COP KILLER UP FOR PAROLE AGAIN!

The PBA needs your help! Send a E-mail to the parole board to keep A convicted cop killer behind bars.

It is hard to imagine the pain the family of a slain police officer must endure every two years when faced with the reality that the killer will get a chance to be set free. You would think that it would be a forgone conclusion that a cop killer would never be released. But the reality is that we need to do everything in our power to ensure that the parole board would be hard pressed to release a cop killer against the wave of public support created to keep him incarcerated. It is imperative that you and your family take the time to send the message!!

This is the tragic story that leads to the death of police officer Giglio:

On October 7,1975 Police Officer Matthew Giglio responded to a call for a burglary in progress at a store in West Hempstead. He was assigned to the ambulance bureau and responded to back up his fellow officers. Upon his arrival Officer Giglio observed John Mackenzie exiting the store and attempted to apprehend him. John Mackenzie quickly turned and fired one shot at point blank range into Officer Giglio's chest. Officer Giglio was rushed to Mercy Medical Center where he remained several months. During this time Matthew endured more pain and human suffering than conceivably possible including the amputation if his leg in an attempt to save his life. On December 16,1975 Officer Giglio finally succumbed to his injuries only one week before Christmas. He left behind a wife and three young children.

This will be the fifth time we need to campaign to keep the killer of Nassau County Police Officer Matthew Giglio behind bars. It will also be the fifth time that I will reach out to Matthew Giglio's family and remind them that we will always be there for them and that we will never forget the sacrifice and pain that they have endured. Their family is part of our family and it is once again time to unite to defend our family!! As of right now the parole hearing is scheduled for the second week in August.

Please take the time right now to send your letter of opposition!! If we stand together we make a difference! We certainly owe it to the family of any police officer to do anything in our power to try and make sure that they are never dishonored by having the murderer of the one they love walk the street again.

Dear Commissioner,

It is hard to imagine the pain the family of a slain police officer must endure every two years when faced with the reality that the killer will get a chance to be set free.

It is even more shocking to think that someone who committed such an offensive act may someday be allowed to re-enter society. Officer Matthew Giglio was murdered doing his job saving lives and protecting the public. He left behind a wife and three young children after suffering from his injuries for a little more than 1 month. Discounting that by releasing his killer would certainly depreciate the severity of his actions and diminish respect for the law. Had John Mackenzie been tried today for this crime the availability of parole would not have been an issue.

I strongly urge the parole board not to free John Mackenzie. To grant freedom would have a devastating effect on the police community, the Giglio family, and all who are willing to sacrifice their lives to protect a civilized society.
