I always park in fire zones. The reason being? Well if there's a fire I'll know before the fire department does. I like parking there for the convenience of being able to get right back to my car and since it's usually for checks on businesses so that people see us out.

On the other hand I will not park in yellow zones. They are usually yellow because parking there would result in obstruction of view for intersecting motorists... im not going to be responsible for a t-bone

If there isn't an exemption then don't park illegally. It's just that simple. I have never bought the excuse about having to get back to your car in a hurry if there's an emergency. If that's the case, then don't get out of the car, or select a different eating spot with better parking, or get a law passed that exempts your emergency vehicle when you want to have dinner. If there's no exemption then don't park illegally.

In Connecticut emergency vehicles can park in no-parking areas for official business (i.e. - emergencies) but not just because the driver happens to be working. I hate seeing cops park in the fire lane in front of Bagelman because they don't want to walk. It makes all of us look bad.

Working in a crowded city increases one's propensity for rationalization?

If it is illegal, then you shouldn't do it, even if you have what you consider to be a good excuse.

When the fire department goes to their local grocery store, they part in the fire lane. But their's no fire, right? They're just getting some dinner.

Perhaps we should change "fire lane" to Emergency Services Vehicle Lane".

Even this part? He's absolutely right. It does make LEOs look bad. The average citizen, from what I know, is neither pro or anti-police but when they see something like this it pisses them off. Kinda like the fat lady at Walmart with a cart full of crap in the 10 items or less isle.

When they do that they're wrong. Unless your state has a law that exempts all emergency vehicles from parking statutes regardless of whether they are responding to an emergency.

Connecticut has no such statute. If a police car parks in the fire lane or handicapped space because the driver doesn't want to walk to a normal spot, the driver is wrong. And every citizen who sees that becomes a little less likely to view the police in a favorable light.

    Ooooh ooooh ooooh!

If a Lawyer gives me a ticket do I get to be obnoxious and tell him I'm paying his salary? Personally, I think lawyers should do more of this.

I also expect that Lawyers will now "go catch the real criminals" rather than hastle me with tickets.

I will tell people to call their lawyers when someone breaks into their house at 4 a.m.? Don't worry Ma'am your Lawyer is going to take care of this. He's going to follow up and find your stolen car. Really.

I also expect Lawyers to handle their clients, no matter how disturbed. What you say, your client is baying at the moon in his tighty whities while waving around a steak knife?

Well, that's just too fucking bad because even he refused to drop it until he see's his lawyer, gets 1 million dollars, and a plane ticket to Iceland.

    HAVE FUN!
I drive way too fast to worry about cholresterol.
