In Kansas you can be Sheriff if you......
1. are not a felon
2. no domestic violence convictions
3. no DUI convictions
If you are not a certified LEO
Then you go to the regular academy for 14 weeks.
Then the sheriff's school is another 8? weeks I think.

On a clear night, I can see the other deputies emergency lights at least 10 miles away.
But it isnt flat here LOL
