I call them smart under the circumstances that surrounded them. Bell was in a club known for illegal activity and his friends and him took off because the police. Upon fleeing they tried to take out an officer with a car. The situation became political because Bell was going to wed his baby's mama and one white cop was involved where Sharpton wanted to disregard the race of the other cops and make it a race issue so he can profit from his supporters. Shootings and robberies were going on in the area where the edp gang member was. You can call him a kid if you want. I was working that area and more police were assigned there than usual. Given the information by his mother that he had a gun and related incidents in the area along with telling him don't move, he decides to move in toward police and makes like he was coming at them with a gun. Cops made split second decisions and did what they had to do to protect themselves and the public.

Yes, I might be a tad timid of some of the neighborhoods but, so are the cops. These 3 examples were obviously over-reactions by overly nervous cops.
Wow! You have to be the dumbest, most arrogant, STUPID, self-serving arrogant bag of feces to say something like this. Real easy for you to Monday morning quarterback when you have openly admitted that YOU are TOO SCARED to even go out in the streets of NY at the times these events happened.

And for the record, the 41 shots was a JUSTIFIED shooting. Man was told to stop. Shown police badges. Ordered several times. He ignored the orders and in a extremely low light environment reached into his pocket, FAST. One officer defended himself and fell doing such. Other officers thought he was SHOT and fired. Sean Bell was legally drunk. So were his passengers. Sean Bell stated after having a verbal dispute with another party "go get the gun." His own buddies testified to such on the stand. He then was told to stop and pulled a car out of a parking space and DROVE it into cops trying to stop it. They fired. Not that an arrogant kiddy like yourself would know, but in NY, the police DO NOT have to issue a warning before firing. Nor do they have to identify themselves! If they feel threatened, they can use deadly force. And by the way. the Judge will decide on 4/25 if it was justified. The hairbrush thing? Don't know the details so I won't speak. But you evening mentioning these just show you how dumb, arrogant and self-serving you really are.

I know without a fact you will NEVER make our ranks. You could never pass the psychological exam.

The bottom line is we all know you are a coward. And rather than just admit it, you came on and explained all the reason you were withdrawing from the NYPD. Your posts have proven to every person on here you list of things boils down to a few simple points:
    1) You want to be a pretty cop and not get dirty.
    2) You are a complete coward.

So next time, rather than lie to all of us and lie to yourself, you should just be honest. You don't want to get dirty and get scared easily. I don’t like cowards. They sit and let everyone else do the work and try to take credit later. Glad to see others on here do not like them either. Good riddance!

You know what really gets me about the whole Sean Bell incident? It's how this one-time felon was portrayed as a loving father of two children (that he fathered out of wedlock).

This guy was such a great man, great father, and great husband that he chose to spend the night before his wedding where? Getting drunk at the nastiest, seediest, most drug infested, skank-filled strip club this city has to offer. Yeah, what a great father and role model for his children.

Yet his fiance goes on Larry King and is treated like the cops shot up her Fortune 500 philanthropist CEO husband. Un-real.

What in the hell has gone wrong with our society?

Our local police uniforms look professional, neat, and corporate. They're also uncomfortable, difficult to run in, don't hold any gear whatsoever, and are generally not user friendly at all... In fact the blazing white winter hat is a bullet magnet (you have to wear it at all times unless indoors/in car).

Local police on the beat here would kill for those uniforms. Especially the cargo style pants...

This "man" they call Sean Bell HAD NO JOB, yet paid cash for a wedding, reception and honeymoon. With no job he had several vehicles registered in his name. With no job he had money to spend at a strip club at 4am on the morning of his wedding. With no job he was supporting his fiance and her kids. What nobody is talking about is thet Sean Bell was a convicted drug dealer.

What happened was a complete tradegy! But the proximate casue is cause is clear. Sean Bell was DRUNK at the time of the incident. Sean Bell alluded to another who he was arguing with that he was going to his car to get his GUN. Sean Bell was approached by undercover police officers, who were observed and recognized by Sean Bells own friends inside the bar as "cops." Sean Bell got BEHIND the wheel of a car, LEGALLY DRUNK, and drove his vehicle at several undercover cops, after being told to stop.

The proximate cause was Sean Bells actions. His actions forced the REACTION of others, and ultimately his death.
