I wouldn't be too quick to judge from a vid like those.
The one with the shotgun...well it could be that the cop had pulled those guys over before and knew them to be hard core criminals and the cop was just making sure he went home that night.
The one in the field at night, after a pursuit...wehn you see the second clip of it, you see what could be the driver striking at the cop at the door of the car as they pull him out. Not that that alone justifies striking a crook. However it could be that when they got him out he continued to be violent, or resist and given his position this not so visible on the camera. We are taught some strikes in my dept to the back of the shoulders and other places that will be very effective in getting compliance with a resisting prisoner, however I don't like them and would rather employ other techniques soley because they look a lot worst than they are.
As for the one where the officer is repeatedly kicking the crook on the ground...umm.. for all we know he could have been holding a knife and the officer was trying to kick it out of his hands. Most likely it was just adrenalin after a pursuit and a bit of revenge from the officer towards the crook for probably trying to kill the officer throughout the pursuit. If this is the case, it is unprofessional, and to a certain extent unnacceptable. However, until someone has tried to kill you, it is probably not wise to suggest what you wold do in that situation.
Just possibilities on what might be happening.
I wasn't there and don't know and sure am not going to judge the actions of those officers based on inconclusive video footage.

I'm with George. I didn't see anything in the videos that looked out of line.

I think some of it MIGHT have looked out of line....but just because it MIGHT look that way, does not mean it was that way.
Without seeing clearly if any of them were carrying weapons, or how they were resisting etc makes it hard to make a definitive comment about wether or not it was right or wrong.

I definately agree, there is ALWAYS more to the story, and I cannot even begin to judge. However; it looks like there may have been a questionable move from a tactical standpoint...

I am not a LEO, and would not be handcuffing someone, so I would not have to come within reach at all. But, it appears to me that the officer in the first clip could have had a weapon grab issue had the suspect been more aggressive or skilled. Granted, he had to close to secure the suspect, but should he have first proned him out better?
For those of you who are not cops I want to share a story with you.
While training in my police academy I saw a dah cam video of a cop who after a chase opened fire on a subject. everyone in the clase was pretty much like WTF that cops is toast. What could he have been thinking?
Minutes later the instructor showed us another dash cam from same incident, different car. You can see the subject reaching in his waistband and you see the handle of a gun. Totally changed our perspective.
Moral of the story.... unless you were there or have all the facts you will never truly know.

I'm also with George. We don't see what the crooks have in their hands, what they do or what they've done.
I think when we have had dashboard cameras in the time I was in patrol, one or three videos with close action will be seen with me. But I allways had my reasons.
