Hi I'm an idiot... how are you?
"The enemy of my enemy is probably still my enemy."
BWAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA...
Welcome to the Idiot Club...I am it's VP, as I can not spell and also had to pay my way through all of my math classes in order to get where I am in my education.
Funny thing, I can spell..'anthropomorphic' better than I can spell Tuesday...
Go figure...:p
Thanks all for your participation in this poll. In the next couple of days, I will be PM'in a few of you for a sort of interview...you will be cited in the presentation, if you choose to be. I will also forward my resulting information to those who would like it.
Thanks again.
..
Heroin's making a comeback among the rich white kids.
Meth's on the upswing again with the one pot method, especially among our local hillbillies. Not seeing a lot of teenagers using yet, but it's only a matter of time.
The National Drug Intelligence Center ("NDIC") publishes an annual drug threat assessment report which may be a very useful reference for your presentation.
The link to the "National Drug Threat Assessment 2008", October 2007 (Document ID# 2007-Q0317-003) is: http://www.usdoj.gov/ndic/pubs25/25921/index.htm#Top
If you are interested, I could put you in touch with your Regional NDIC Representative (a retired DEA Supervisor) who may have additional information.
Regarding your original question, the current drug of choice with young people appears to be a "legal" halluncinogenic drug called "salvia divinorum", an herbal incense, which is being sold on the internet including eBay and elsewhere. Kids are smoking it like marijuana. It is my understanding only eight States have passed legislation making it a controlled substance.
.
Thank you so much for that offer, and I think I will take you up on that...that is so kind of you.
I had heard of the 'Salvia' legal drug....after asking 'those in the know' (teenagers downstairs making lot's of noise with guitars and basses...no, no funny smells....) it does not seem to have hit this area...yet. However, the kids have heard about it; and it will be mentioned.
NOw, this forum...while scary..is entertaining as well. A bunch of drug addicts get together and teach each other how to make the most out of their illegal high...
Why I say it's entertaining?
Well, a bunch of drug addicts-dealers calling other addicts-dealers 'losers' is really quite funny....

If we don't educate the kids...these are the people who will....
..
The NDIC Regional Representative for your area is named Doug R. - I will PM you with his telephone number and email address.
P.S. One of his functions is to travel around your Region and interview the various Police Departments to identify trends and emerging drug issues unique to your area, so he should have a lot of data specific to New England. (Thats how NDIC compiles data for their Threat Assessments)
.
Again, thanks all who posted and participated. More are welcome!!
Would love more idea's and opinions... :D

I have one son who is significantly disabled so we have a county MR case manager. She recently told me that their administrator asked all the MH and MR case managers to talk to their families about keeping track of the prescriptions they have for their child who is disabled due to siblings using or selling those meds out of the medicine cabinet. I thought it was one good way to get the information out there. They are also working with school counselors and Youth Groups but I don't know how effective any of these approaches have been.
I did have to laugh for our case though because the only prescriptions my disabled son takes are prescription laxatives. Not typically on anyones list for getting high but I'd be willing to share as a lesson learned. :D

College trends in my area:
Marijuana
Adderal
Salvia
RX pain pill of the month
also, ever since working out, i've looked at trends of steroid use, and heard of more and more use by some people. Seems many kids younger and younger want to get big like their favorite athlete, so they resort to some form of steroids/pro hormones/pro steroids. That should lead to a bigger increase of steroided-out people with gynecomastia :D.
Im in HS now, and pain killers, along with weed and alcohol seem to be the thing to do.
A lot of weed is laced with PCP now, thanks to the Philadelphia police seizing tons of weed not too long ago, everything has to be laced now...or else nothing happens. Either you get that stuff or its grown somewhere around town.
