Ok, what the hell is a troll exactly?
I already did stop responding to those who are attacking me.
"You don't have to convince anyone other then the judge"- I understand that just fine as I have stated.

Lawdawg, let it go already...it doesn't matter. Do what you think is best for your future career and what you think is right. If you feel cheated, fight the ticket, and move on.

Let it go already? I'm about as cool headed as they come. If people still want to discuss things then I don't see a problem replying to them, but I'm done defending myself as no one here knows what happened anyway.
Besides, talking about letting it go, I see you're still checking back for updates.
See ya pal.

Lawdog, fight the ticket. Don't be too concerned about comments from the peanut gallery.
SO he should ignore you then. loser

mcsap hit it right on the head. The fact that you didn't mean to bypass the traffic control signal is irrelevant. The fact that you did bypass the TCS is what matters.
Based on my experience, here is what I would do. Go to Traffic Court, state your case, professionally, logically and without disparaging the officer. Chances are, that just by showing up the Judge will reduce the fine and the infraction level. I saw a Judge say to a Courtroom full of traffic infractees something similar to this - All of you who have come to contest your' ticket consider your' fine cut in half and your infraction level reduced by one level. If you wish to do this move to the left side of the Courtroom. All of you who wish to waste the Courts time fighting your ticket stay on the right. Guess what....only one guy remained on the right. Couldn't tell you what happened, because my case went to the left.

Lawdawg, I hear ya. You got a bad break, and even without a lawyer, you stand a chance of a getting the charges dropped. Like in my traffic case mentioned before, all I plan to do is be sharp, professional, and courteous, and prove that I have a reasonable doubt of being innocent. I am prepared to win,but ready for the possibility of losing.
PS- With some of these people on this forum ,you just can't win.No matter what somebody says, you'll always find some smart *** comment about some ****. Some of them probably aren't even who they say they are. Maybe tomorrow I'll become a Miami vice detective, and then on Sunday I'll be a CIA counter-sniper. I've gotten some good advice on this board, but then who knows, the guy who said he was a cop could be some pimply-faced 16 year old kid.
It's cool that real cops would take the time to post helpful ideas and answer questions on a public board such as this, but I have my doubts about a cop that throws attitude around on a computer screen. I would think a professional officer would simply ignore and gloss over any posts that he/she didn't like or agree with, not call people "whiners" and "liars".

Who are you to be saying stuff like that about the regulars on this board? You have been here for about 9 days, and you are already making assumptions as if you know these people. I don't know what your story is, but judging from this post, you seem interested in nothing but trouble here.Originally posted by rent-a-cop

I guess taking advice from a rent a cop is better than taking some from a real one. Anyways, lawdog-I'm not going to use the word "quota", but officers have to show that they have done some activity every night that they go out there. Once you are one, you will understand.
As far as going up to the officer and offering up the "no hard feelings" thing, trust me, the copper could give two sh#ts about your feelings. We have a job to do and that is to enforce the law. We also have discretion. I think its funny when people break the law and finally get caught and think that the cops discretion should be in their favor. If it isn't, then they pull the whole "I'm the victim routine."
I am a police officer, I have a family and I am always strapped for cash but I take responsibility for my actions. If you feel you have a case then try fighting it but if the judge decides in favor of the officer (which will probably happen given the circumstances) then I don't want to hear you come back on the board and start blaming the system. Good luck with the case and to let you know, the officer is getting paid overtime while he is in court.
Instead of becoming all emotional about this in an internet forum, why don't you go to the preliminary hearing and talk to the prosecutor. If it is anything like around here, I am sure that they would drop it down to a minor equipment violation if you would pay the fine. Or else you would have to take it to court, most likely lose, then owe the money and points including witness fees. Those are your choices.

That's exactly what I was hoping for, a plea bargain at the least.
Am I wrong for wanting to fight a ticket when I feel my integrity is being called into question, or does that not matter? I know the police forces want people of high integrity and if they saw that I plead guilty to something I feel I am innocent of, won't they question my integrity then?
And for everyone who thinks I'm being whiney and emotional, two things: 1) I just don't give in because just because someone says I'm guilty, and 2) I have a wife, a 4 yr old, and a 8 month old all living in a 1 bedroom apartment. The fine for this will be considerable as the county has recently doubled fines and being around christmas time and already being broke as hell, no way in hell I can afford this ticket.
Good, your attitude towards other people here leave something to be desired. A little more respect to other members on this site would have been nice, but it didn't seem like you were capable of it.Originally posted by rent-a-cop
