Rad, I totally agree!!! It is your body and your life E. Corps but why do they have to be on the forearms for everyone to see everytime you wear a short sleeve shirt??? The only reason why maybe the FBI wouldn't care is because you will usually be in a long sleeve shirt and tie and probably a suit. And if your undercover they probably figure someone wouldn't expect an FBI agent to have tats so that works in your favor. Most uniform cops wear short sleeve shirts until the weather is just unbearably cold and then some just throw a jacket on. You can pull your sleeve up if you ever feel the need to show the tatoos. JUST DON'T DO THE FOREARMS MAN! YOU'LL LIVE TO REGRET IT! (Just my humble opinion.)

EC: If you have your mind made up, at least wait until you land in whatever dept. you get. If you can't wait, at least make sure that they don't show when in uniform. (no forearms, neck, etc.) Iv'e know guys who didn't get hired because they had a visible tattoo, but this varies by department.

My friend who is on SWAT introduced me to one of the operators. The dood had a tribal tatt all up and down his arm. HUGE dood man. But REAL nice and humble. The tatt is insane as it goes from his shoulder all the way down to his forearm. Looks like their dept. doesn't care about it one bit! The guy wears a T-Shirt that says, "Blood has been Shed" (it must be a band) when he's on the firing line training. Its quite funny

Seems like that would help on undercover jobs. I know I wouldn't think the guy selling me drugs, with a tat on his neck, was a cop.

My town's PD doesn't. There is a guy with us that has a comic book down both of his legs, and he wears shorts on duty. I have a tatoo on my back... A few people told me not to apply for FDLE or FBI if I have any piercings or tatoos.. I have a few piercings, but I can take them out... unlike a tatoo that is still there.. ><

The first thing I did when I found out I was jgoing to be working undercover was to get my other ear pierced. My wife hated it. Espically when I shaved my head and grew a goatee as well. She told me I looked like I just got out of prision; I told her that was the idea!...lol.

I've always been interested in working vice doing prostitution stings and whatnot. I have a tattoo on my back (two guesses what it is), and I agree with having tattoos to "blend in", but you also have to look at it in a paranoid sense too. You're tattoos can also serve as identifying marks for truely pissed off criminals as well.

As far as having tattoos on your neck, I personally find that unatractive. There's this "John Wayne" wannabe in my class that has random sh*t tattooed up his neck (yuck)

Put it on your ***. Heehee!

    But for real.....

I have no idea who the guy is (probably kept away from him because of his tats), but he has some serious ink on his arms. Apparently, in our town PD they don't have any regulations over this. The guy was even in the paper (front cover) a few years back and there they were....both guns all inked up! Right there on the front cover. And the story was for the local K-9 Unit at the department. Way to represent! Heehee.

Also, I don't know the regulations for ATF, but I'll just share this much. We have a longtime friend who has a SERIOUS role in the agency.....he has some major work on his forearms. He's addicted. He has a tribal band around his upper arm, a bio-hazard tat, a lizard, a massive dog, the tazmanian devil (young and dumb, that one).....a .....you name it, he's probably got it.
