I was watching an older episode of COPS tonight where they were with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.
Judging from the cars the officers had (squarish boxy cars), the hairstyles, large radios, the clothing,and the fact that some officers still had revolvers it looked like it was from the late 80's to early 90's. I know it's post '87 as the show appeared in '88.
Anyways the officers were doing a prostitution sting, where the females officers posed as prostitutes, the officers kept mentioning AIDS and how they wanted to prevent the people who used the prostitutes from giving AIDS to their wives and children. They also educated two guys they arrested on AIDS.
Question;
Was AIDS a big deal for LE in regards to dealing with prostitution, in the late 80's to early 90's? Or even today?
(I personally never thought about AIDS and prostitution, but it makes sense as to why it would be a big deal to LE.)
On another note it's pretty cool to watch the older episodes and see how different things are now from then.
I always get a kick out of history, my dad brought home some real old photos from his PD a while back the photos were from the twenties to fifties. He also had some photos from the 1980's.
I just think it's cool to see how different things have changed from the twenties-eighties-today. In the real old photos the officers all had on jackets, no duty belts, and you couldn't see any sidearms on them, I guess they were under the jackets.
lol I've never hijacked my own the thread with the first post before.
End hijack of my own thread. :D
