Officers Rescue PCSOs
Just to fill you in, PCSO's are people employed by the police with very limited powers, who wear uniforms almost identical to us.
They were brought in to make it look like there are more of us on the streets, resulting in less officers being recruited.
This unfortunately is the end result
Two PCSOs locked themselves in a room to escape an angry 13-year-old boy — and had to call cops to rescue them.
The Police Community Support Officers had been called to a referral centre for problem kids on a different matter when the youth became aggressive. They fled to another room, bolted the door and radioed for back-up.
Four cops were sent to the centre in Plymouth, Devon, and the PCSOs were released after around 15 minutes.
The lad was arrested but released back into the care of his mum 45 minutes later.
Devon and Cornwall Police Assistant Chief Constable Sharon Taylor insisted the pair “did the right thing”.
She added: “The role of the PCSO does not include dealing with violent confrontation.”
But Tory MP Geoffrey Cox said the incident showed the “limited value” of PCSOs, introduced by the Government in 2002.
He said: “These officers cannot fill the shoes of a policeman. A police officer has the powers and confidence to deal with these incidents.”
A snout has told me he's got a set of nostrils, so go and get a W so we can spin his drum to see if he's got any monkey gear - The Sweeney.
