Does anyone have some info on Atlanta P.D.

Iam thinking about moving to Atlanta and i need some insight on the dept.

My advice, stay far away.

Once a week an APD Officer is arrested for a major felony like child molestion, rape, possesion of child porn. Word on the street is taht the Feds are going to take over like they did with the NOPD some years ago. Without a doubt, there are many fine Men and Women working for the APD. I feel very sorry for them.

Now with that out of the way, the APD ain't the only game in town. Every Dept is hiring. Seriously. I recomend that you check out Clayton, Gwinnet, Forsyth, Dekalb ETC ETC. They are all hiring like mad.

I am honestly not sure how it works.

Back in the 80s, the Justice Dept took control of the NOPD after a huge scandel involving Officers protecting drug dealers to the point that one Officer killed another. Maybe do a google search?

basically what it is, is Federal oversight, Feds come in and examine the department top to bottom, budget policies, procedures, they see where improvements can be made, they constantly review reports, implementation of their recommendations etc and they remain on federal suprvision for quite some time until the turn around is complete. Had a situation like that here in an adjoining county
