Does your wife/girlfriend ever get nervous or scared when you go out on patrol?

My girlfriend gets very nervous when ever I go do a ride-out. Nothing has ever happened to me. But every time I leave she's scared out of her mind that Im going to get my butt whipped or get shot. :confused: Have any of you LEO's or explorer's ever had this problem????

Let me just say my better half bought me new body armor when my agency was slow in replacing my out-dated armor. She also makes sure I wear it every day.

On day-to-day stuff, I get the "Be careful" every now and then, but nothing noteworthy.

I've had a few assignments (overseas and militia types) that were a little more concern, though.

This pretty well covers it. Of course cell phones help. Im just a call away if she wants to check on me. Damn Im hen pecked:D

My missus just tells me to 'have fun'.

If I'm not home after a couple hours of my finish time, she calls.

She figures if it's going to happen, it'll happen. Why worry and stress yourself out? The last time I was hospitalised (not an overnight stay, but long enough to be late home) I made sure it was me that rang her, not somebody else. Then she'd worry if somebody else called.

My girlfriend is the same way as wombat's. She always tells me to have fun and "I'll see you later" that way we are never saying goodbye.....(that is her idea)!!!

She does get nervious when I am at work espcally since we have had a lot of fights on campus latly.

When I got carted off to the hospital last August , my CPL called her and told her that I was being transported in. I had a bout with Vertigo but didnt know it at the time.

I knew she was taking our 17 yr old to a large mall 25 miles away with her friends for her 17 th birthday. I called her from the back of the ambulance , told her I was " fine" and to go ahead to the mall and have fun.

I said I'll call her later. I actually sounded pretty normal and was convincing enough that she went and had a good time with the girls

I cant recall my soon to be ex-wife ever telling me to "be carefull" or anything resembling it unfortunately. I guess that should have been a clue huh? :rolleyes:

Don't feel too bad, my ex-husband never told me be careful or any of that either. It was simply "bye." Yea, should of been a BIG clue.
