I cannot believe whats happening to me right now, both me and my room mate are criminology majors we applied for an internship with the U.S marshals

Under the drug questionare I admitted to using marijuana once in high school over 3 years ago.

He lied and said he hasnt done ANY drugs when in reality he has done marijuana, methadone, exstacy, acid, shrooms, opiates, co2 cartridges, cocaine laced weed, and every benzo under the son.

However the us marshal internship has no poly i got denied he got accepted he smokes weed everyday but has stopped so he can pass the drug test.

I am furious right now my entire life I have tried to be A++ and because I was honest I got screwed and now its on federal record that I admitted to it (I dont know if they store denied internship applications?) Which means I cant even lie like he did in the future.

The fact that you smoked weed once will not ALWAYS be a disqualifying factor.

So he lied and got an intership big deal. In the future if he applies for a job that requires a polygraph he will be caught and blackballed. If the worst thing you have ever done is smoke weed once in high school you will have plenty of opportunities in life.

What goes around, comes around. When he applies for a job after the internship and gets a full blown background investigation it will all come out. Not only will it all come out, but the fact that he lied about it to get the internship will also come out. He screwed himself and doesn't even know it yet. You did the right thing. Would you rather have lied about it, got the internship, and then have that on your conscience?

And if this guy really does all the things you say, any cop will be able to see right through him within the first 10 minutes of meeting him.

lying on a government document is a crime to, so he's doubly screwed. Many departments will hire someone who smoked weed once, including the feds.

No, you're not feeling sorry for yourself. :rolleyes: Stop the whining. Yes, it sucks. He will get his, though.

BTW, do you think you are any better than him? It sounds to me like you are just as bad, wishing you had no record of telling the truth so that you could lie in the future.... isn't that just the pot calling the kettle "black".

Also, while not one of them, I know plenty of DUSMs who experimented with drugs.. and when I say "not one of them", I mean Deputy U.S. Marshals who TRIED drugs. I AM a DUSM and I am not some ignoramus, pulling some assumption from my a$$ with an extremely limited experience on which to base it (like you).

That would make too much sense. The only problem is, it sounds like he has taken a furlough from his drug use for purposes of passing the drug tests... a thorough BI should catch it, though.

Thats the most ignorant thing I've ever heard. First of all, why are you living with a sh!thead liek that in the first place... you are aware that when you apply for LE jobs they look at who you do and have lived with and take that into account.

Secondly, so you think cause your dirtball buddy got 1 freakin break cause he lied on an app, that its ok, and you should do it in the future? What are you, 5? Life doesn't go always go your way, and if you get this worked up when it doesnt, you have a lot of stress coming your way. I mean hell, if youre that mad about, why not call them up and tell them he lied.

So you're in a predicament, do you snitch on this turd that you probably shouldn't be associating with anyway, or do you let things go, and be pissed about it and cry woe is me?

Put it this way... how many applicants for police jobs do you think are turned down every year, and the guy that gets hired is fired within his probationary period, cause he sucked and was a moron. Sh!t happens, and you deal with it. One thing you'll find, as I have, is that LEOs can be as sympathetic as anyone, when its deserved. As you see, youre getting no sympathy.

You go through crap in life that "isnt fair," it builds character if you know how to handle it. Anyone on here that has read my recent posts knows I'm going through some BS, but I'm not whining about. I'm looking for advice on how to get through it, make it better, and do the best job I can.

You're going to find when you get into the real world (and no, a college internship isnt the real world) that integrity and character is the most important thing you can show a prospective employer.

Look at it this way, is whats happening to you any worse than every week when some dirt bag that Super Six 5 or Valor or anyone else arrested for a drug charge, gets their charges dropped for some bullsh!t reason? Do you think thats fair, but it happens. But that happens to all cops, but they dont turn around and say "well these dirt bags always get off, I can make a hell of a lot more money as a drug dealer, I'm going to do that!"

Etchics is something you kind of had unitl you came here and removed most doubt about you being as ethically challenged as your bud.

Some way, some how, he will get caught. You are not screwed for life ,but you should face the consequences of what you did. But you can get through this.

I don't see what the big deal about not getting an internship is? Go find another agency. Its not the end of the world. Getting your panties in a bunch over something so small, will only hurt you.

Why are you hanging around with someone associated with illegal activity is my question? Even if he is your roommate, you can get a new one...its not that hard to comprehend
