I doubt it. People seem to have this fascination with being complete morons.

No exceptions of any kind simply because they are teachers.

The other issue is that repsonding officers are NOT going to know who these teachers are and if they enter the school due as a response to a call and happen to see a person with a gun...
Yeah, it would have to be voluntary with the proper training. As far as the police encountering an armed teacher after a school shooting I doubt it would still be in progress when the police arrived. Even if it were I don't believe any sane person would brandish a weapon after the police arrived. If they did they they deserve to get shot. I believe your training consist of "shoot, don't shoot drills". I don't believe that any officer would shoot a teacher that was holding a weapon in a non-threatening manner. Of course there's always a risk but after the defenseless slaughter of so many people it's an acceptable one, IMO.

I think that people (the public) will comply, either the guards are armed or not.
It is true that people in general don't like to analyze things too much.

And I said that because in a town like the one mentioned above, people relate to one another as a family, and folks might not feel very comfortable having their children around armed staff.

Now in a larger city (take Hollywood for instance where schools are like warzones) that would be a different story, parents beg for armed guards.

Honestly I think there should be armed security or armed teachers at every school now a days I don't care if it's an elementary school or a university. There needs to be something in place now schools seem to be hunting zones for crazy *******'s now a days because they know that there is minimal to zero armed good guys and they can get quite a few kills before the police arrive.

Personally I am tired of innocent people being killed or injured because of politics it's BS and there needs to be something done now to protect people.

Its sad that everywhere you go now you have to be armed because of the way the USA is going now. We're not safe anywhere any more and this is not because of the police they are doing there jobs it's the politicians not doing theres that has made the US the way it is now.

As some of you may know I have served for approximately 5 years in the Army and I served one combat tour for this country and quite honestly I don't know why anymore I almost died and friends of mine have died but for what so we can keep killing each other here and the criminals having more rights than the public it makes me sick.

Alright rant over guys and gals sorry

    No

If this was my school, I would have to say NO, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES

My schools guards already seem to think they are the police department and can get away with anything

Our guards have a 36" lightbar and strobe lights on a truck they don't take off the parking lot

Our Transportation Department bought Jerry barriers to separate the incoming and outgoing lanes in the bus garage PLUS has RED LIGHTS AND A SIREN on one of their cars so they can get to bus accidents quickly (State Law says OK, but no other school does it).

Plus, our guard force I would be scared of possessing weapons.

One is at least 70 years old

Another has 3 DUI Convictions plus is an admitted LSD User. He also has bulletproof sunglasses, and a secret service type earpiece for his radio. He once jumped from the passenger side of his truck with his hand on his hip and yelled FREEZE, because one kid stole anothers hackeysack.

The others I am not too concerned about but
I can just imagine what they would do if they were armed.

Yes, I think they should go through a mini-police academy, both to avoid tragedies and to make the public more comfortable with the idea - Similar to what airline pilots go through in order to carry a gun, including a strong focus on accuracy under stress, weapons retention, and shoot/don't shoot live scenarios in a crowded place.

Unfortunately that would be expensive, so it's not gonna happen. Maybe they'll at least get as much training as an Armed Security Guard (which isn't much more training than a CHL holder gets in Texas, but that $200 would probably be all the schools can afford).

Arm to the teeth!! We need to do some serious changing of our ways in this country. Times have changed and we need to adapt with them. I know that most of the world doesn't want to change simply because they can't admit that it is necessary to.

I also agree with arming teachers - but only in a concealed manner with the proper permit.

It wouldn't be that expensive and I bet most of the teachers would pay for their own training. The reason it won't happen isn't because of finances, it's three letters: NEA.

Thankx for the thoughts & opinions.

Our schoolboard says is just about a done deal.

I have no problem w/my kid, a junior, being at the school w/armed guards, I like it.

I took my kid & his 2 buds shooting yesterday, (16-17y/o's) S&W 4506 in .45acp, & G22 in .40S&W. They have been shooting w/me for years. They like the idea of armed guards too.

    Thankx again, Wooddogg.:D
