    The media ho strikes again

So, I'm out at this near fatal hit/run last week. It happened at 0053hrs, and I was still there until 0900hrs.

The media show up......it was a stolen car that had been involved in a mini-pursuit about 15 mionutes before doing this hit-run. Police called off the chase before it became a real pursuit. Anyway, the guy driving the stolen car deicdes he's hungry after running from the coppers and goes to McDonalds for a feed. As he's leaving there he backs up, knocks over a pedestrian and traps him under the wheels. He then drives off, dragging this poor unfortunate fellow about 50 metres before he dislodges into the middle of the road. Stolen vehicle crashes a red light and takes off.

So, with all this in mind, there I am, freezin' my boys off for 8 hours. As I was saying, the media show up and start filming. Because of the circumstances, it goes to the Major Collision Investigation Unit, so their Sgt does the talking head thing instead of me, which was fine. HOWEVER, With all that footage, they decide to use the bit with me in the background, talking to another Police officer, not bad in itself except for the fact that I am laughing. Not the best time to have a chuckle, but I can assure you I wasn't laughing at anything to do with the collision.

Oh, the phone calls I got for that.

Ah yes, the pedestridan is still alive, just. When I left work that morning, the guys were on their way to kick in the crooks door. He was in custody less than 12 hours after all this happened.

If you rob a gas station, you're only going to get about $100, but I get to see a K9 dog use your arm as a chew toy. For all I care you can keep the $100.

Every time you hear on the news about people running away from a crazed gunman, someone's son or daughter in a police uniform is running TOWARD that crazed gunman.

Yeah, don't think that didn't cross my mind more than once while cleaning this up.

Geezz...we scrape kids off pavement, see peoples insides on their outsides, the worst humanity can offer and they don't think we build a tolerance to it and vent it....I guess we could keep it all inside and start shooting everyone we meet.

Where I live there is a particular station that airs music in the morning news. One day after a story like this aired and they claimed it to be, "shameful police empathy toward the victims of 'racial' crimes", they started playing a gangster rap song glorifying domestic battery. WOnderful! I love the media!
