Sounds like you got the run around. You might wanna take it in, instead of calling. Often times when you call over the phone, they won't draw a report cause it ties up for more emergent calls. I would go in to the station with the disk, ask to fill out a, "Suspicious Circumstance" report.

If they don't take Suspicious Circumstance reports, you may be out of luck.

Offer to send them a pic of the vehicle / driver. You never know if this could be someone they are looking for. I would try to reach a detective for this, prob the one that handled your burglary.

Don't jump to any great conclusions with him/her about this being THE suspect but a free offer from a citizen to send in a GOOD quality pic like you have for them to take a look at CANNOT hurt one bit.

Im not saying don't take it to the police, because you should. But, an idea no one has said yet is perhaps it's... a cop! (lets not discuss the poor approch tactics if it is... but at the same time it's SO brazen (he pulled INTO the driveway) that it could be legit...)

I know my department has a guy who does nothing but stolen vehicles. Notice he went to the front windshield... where... the VIN is. If your car matched a recently stolen one and he was driving by he might have used his dept. Nextel (like 99 percent of departments use) to run the VIN.

Or, he is a scrote that is doing something fishy.
