Also a little chiming in on my spanish that I am now speaking on a normal basis, along with spanish in the classroom, using those direct commands in the post of "callate", which is an accent on the first A, pronouncing it much like c-A-yete. Also, depending on your tone, it can be taken as offensive, which could in turn prove more problems, so I would just recommend something easy to remember, that says hush, like silencio.
