Have fun on your ride-along. It's an odd experience being in the shoes of a non-LE employee.
Just last night I went on a ride-along with my buddy who is a Community Service Officer. I used to be classified as a CSO when I was a Marine Patrol Officer, so I am used to jumping out at accidents, assisting on disabled vehicles, etc...
We rolled onto a pretty bad accident and without thinking I was in a traffic vest directing traffic. Everyone was cool with it until the shift supervisor arrived on scene and kindly told me to retreat to the vehicle since (obviously) I wasn't insured if I got hit by a car. It was an unnerving experience having to watch everything go down from behind a dashboard.Officer Tina Griswold, EOW 11-29-2009
