I was wondering if you were gonna chime in Norm You will be happy to know I am a proud owner of a my first wheel gun I bought a Taurus 605 because of the issues I am having w/ my duty weapon.
Hey, congrats on the new gun!

Sorry to tell ya, but all the S&W autoloaders are crap. Everyone of them. Try to get your management to buy you a Glock, HK, Sig, or a Ruger if money is the issue.

I couldn't agree more w/ you. I am assuming that money is an issue that is why were pushing for Glock 22 or 23's I would love to be able to carry an HK or Sig but I don't see this happening. Our FPS officers carry Sigs in 357. We all would be more than happy to go to Glocks. Not my favorite gun but it has a great track record for reliability.

My personal opinion is that the Glock is the most over rated piece of plastic ever molded into the shape of a handgun. I used to carry S&Ws, (.38, .357, 9mm., .40) and I never had a problem with any of them. I went to a Glock, and while it was OK, my department went to issued Beretta 96, and I'd never go back to the Glock.

    Simple:

    Obtain a CCW

    Buy and Carry a backup.

Train to use the backup as a primary.

Outside of quitting this job, this is the only way i know of that you can do it and have any assurance of surviving a gunfight, if the management doesn't care to fix documented defective weapons.

If you have to use it, you may be fired. You may be tried. Given the circumstances, I can't see any conviction.

    You will be alive.

The only problem is that you will no longer be your definition of "the perfect employee".

Honestly Glock is not by far my favorite handgun nor is it my least liked. I would love to be able to carry my 1911, an HK, a SIG or hell even a Beretta but unfortunately we are required by FPS nad the company to carry what is issued. Now a backup you can get away with if you do it right but you would not get away with a nice new shiny SIG sticking out of your holster for everyone to see.
This is why we would all like to go to Glocks they are very affordable and extremely reliable they have been tested just like many others and have saved numerous lives. Also S&W may make a decent auto but the autos we carry are not.

    My .02 cents

My duty weapon is a Beretta Centurion and although I hate it, I have never had a malfunction with it on the range.

I've carried several different sidearms with a few different agencies. A Beretta 92D Centurion with the PD; Glock 22 with the SO; 1911, Beretta M9 Sig P229 as an MP; and Beretta 96D Brigadier and HK P2000 with my current agency. Just to name a few.

Out of all of them I only truely hated one and that was the Glock.
And the only handgun I hated worse than the Glock was a S&W 4506. They should stick to revolvers in my opinion!

And I also agree with Creeker so it's not as small of a gropup as you think. :D
