Military Officer (neighbor) egged my truck!

About 2 months ago a new military family moved onto our street, in a corner house by the major road that runs by our neighborhood. At first they seemed quite and polite, so I was happy to finally get some good folks on our block.

Shortly after, the daugther (highschooler) starts parking her car in the turn off the major street onto our residential street. I asked politely one morning when I saw her leaving for school if she could park a little futher down from the intersection, she complied for a few days. Later that week, while I was making my laps with my dog through the neighborhood, they were parked there again and had just gotten out of the car, so again very nicely I informed them that is illegal to park that close to any intersection (30ft to be exact). Their response was the cops haven't said anything about it yet. Later the whole family came to my house where I was working with my dog in the driveway and got really smart and upset about me talking to the kids about the car. So after I told him it was dangerous for people making that turn, he said "fine" and had he son park the car in front of my house on the street which is about 70 yards away from their house (on an empty street). I said "thats perfect, I appricate it" and went inside.

Well they started parking there again 2 days later, so when I make that turn, I as well as other people on the street honk the horn as we go by. So 2 days ago the fater came to my house with a sleeveless shirt, ac/dc hat, and conferderate tattoo on his right arm. He first said he had letters with my name on them talking about how bad his satillite dish looks mounted to a pole stuck in a bucket of cement in his front yard. I said "really?, whats my name then" he said gary something, I said wrong. Well then he said I "f^$&'d with the wrong person" he went on to say "i've been in the military 20 years so I have nothing to loose, you want to F%& with me at home, I'll make your military career a living hell" I was thinking what a wierdo, but thought I should report it to Tucson PD.

After a while the officer showed up, took my statement and said it sounds like your handling it very maturely minus the horn honking. She went down to inform him of the parking law and to leave me alone. He told her "i looked the law up on the internet and it said it was legal" perfect answer huh? She showed him in in the book it was illegal. He told her it wouldn't happen again and to tell me he would be down in a couple days to shake my hand. I told the officer I'm sorry for having to pull her out here for something so pidly.

Sometime after the officer left my truck was egged. Guess who did it? The same guy who wants to shake my hand, only thing is I didn't see him do it. Its a shame people take stuff out on other peoples property which is defenseless. And this guy is an Air Force officer at that.

What are my options on fighting this? Should I get the military involved in this? Commanders, OSI?? Never been involved in this one before, just looking for some guidance. Thanks in advance folks.

So how do you know that it was your new best friend in the world that egged your truck? If you didn't see him do it, is there a credible witness or do you just have a hunch?

So you are enlisted and he is an officer. Different shops (I assume) and he threatens to make your military career a living hell? Sounds like a drunk or something. Did he just find out he was passed over for Lt Col or something?

If you think he is likely to do something like this again maybe a little surveillance would be in order (performed legally of course). Since you are off base I don't thing OSI is the best route to go here. Talk to your shirt and see if they have any experience with this kind of stuff. If you really want to stir the pot, a trip over to base legal could be in order.

Seems like you have Tuscon PD on your side currently so use them if necessary.

Just out of curiosity, how do you know for sure that it was him and not his kids or somebody else that did it ??

I'm not ruling out the sheer coincidence in the matter, but unless you have video or photos, I think it would be pretty much impossible to accuse somebody in the court of law of "egging" a vehicle.

He violated at least two UCMJ articles according to your story. Swear in a complaint with the local law enforcement. Even if he isnīt charged heīll still be subject to UCMJ.

I was wondering about that. Article 133 for sure (IMO) and what else?

Just call pgm and have a 120 sent his way :D

But seriously I agree with the above, this guy is acting very un-military like and he needs to be put in his place.

I brought it up to my flight supervision, as a just in case kind of backup. Yes, I totally understand without actually witnessing or filming him in the act it is impossible to pin in on him. And I also agree with him violating the UCMJ a couple of times. He says he is getting ready to retire so he has nothing to loose, with the exception of that government pension!!!! LOL

A 120 would be great!! Unfortunatley we don't have any here, but we do have 65's and hundreds of gbu's!!! Heck I'd settle for a bdu-33, they are kinda eggshaped on one end, and I for and I right!! lol

He actually came to my house after I posted this morning. Said he wanted to put the agrument behind us and appolagized about acussing me of sending him a letter about his directv dish. I said "come out here I want you to see something" and showed him the egg "casing" in my drive way. He said he saw it when he walked up to the door, but swore he didn't do it. What are the chances though, but there is no way I could accuse him, so I let it ride. He actually stood there and talked for 10-15 minutes. So hopefully the neighborhood drama is over, which I believe it is.

So is his plan to retire and stay there in Tucscon? That would kind of suck if you had to deal with him till you leave there. I see you are a SrA. So are you near the end of your enlistment or just getting started with a new one?

Yes, I plan on staying here. If I have any luck with the Tucson PD, Pima Co Sheriff, or Highway Patrol. We own the house we live in, we had it built in late 2004. So I would like to stay if something works out.

I am nearing the end of my enlistment, so I'm checking out my intrest options right now. Scheduled for the Tucson PD exam on May 14th, so I really want to stay under the radar with them if at all possible. On another note I have been in contact with OSI about cross-training, but from what I gather the competition it fierce, all they can say is yes or no, so I'll give that a go as well.

As nice as the guy was today, I still truely believe he had a hand in using my truck as a skillet for his eggs, but without that proof, I'm dead in the water I believe.

HR just knocked it out the park and threw a windshield. You can get him under the UCMJ. Go to his unit and talk to his first shirt. OSI won't look into it though they do investigate off-duty, off base incidents involving military members, egging may not be high on their priority. Security Forces have an Office of Investigations that may look into it....SFOI. Either way this guy can get some paper work. It he's an officer this is "unbecoming" and if you felt threatened that can be big. Just take it to the shirt before it escalates, I mean you didn't see him throw the eggs but c'mon what a coincidence....

Unbeleivable that the focus is on the AF officer. Wanting to try and get the OSI involved, stirring the pot and implicating how his career could be ruined over a friggen parking violation and eggs being tossed.

Did anyone besides me read that he had a teenaged daughter and a son old enough to drive a car? Did anyone consider the eggs were thrown by these kids or thier friends? Did anyone consider the eggs could have been thrown without the father's knowledge, permission or sanction?

Nope, could not have been teenaged kids that did this, it just has to be that AF officer who has served our country for two decades.

So an officer in the Air Force would be your first suspect in egging a truck just because he had an altercation with the owner? And the officer has teenagers to boot? I'm with Doc on this one. And, you got the above right. He DIDN'T see it so any guess he makes is pure speculation and accusing this guy with no evidence is BS.

Damn good idea. Additionally, I would not speak too much about conflicts with neighbors. The BI's are going to think, and I guarantee this, that if this guy sticks his nose into neighborhood business now, how the hell is he going to act if we put a badge on his chest? It will not bode well for you.

Let's remember that the neighbor who is getting harassed is also serving his country!
You have to remember in the military it doesn't matter if your kids did it or if your kid's friends did it, you are still held accountable and are still subject to the UCMJ. That's just how the military works. I know a MSgt whose son was caught on base breaking into cars, the guy lost a stripe and was forced to move off base. Sucks! So yes when it is all said and done it still goes to the first shirt. And let's be honest, I'm serving my country as an AF officer, I appreciate his service but doesn't mean we don't have "kinks in our armor". If he or his kids are harassing a neighbor who also happens to be serving his country than what is wrong with getting the situation resolved? His cmdr will determine if the UCMJ is needed but in this case if anything is proven, which would be hard to do off of pure speculation, I bet it'd be an LOC or LOR.
