    Question Patches on just one arm? LAPD?

    Just curious I have seen pictures of LAPD with only one patch on their arm. Any reason why? Saves money? :D


    Seriously though I am wondering is there a reason?

    LA5150 will quite happily jump here and pound on me if I am wrong on this:

    LA Motors and SWAT are the only LAPD I have seen with shoulder patches.

    In general, LAPD patrol officers don't wear patches at all. We're called "slick sleeves" for a reason.

    For those who do have uniforms with patches(traffic, metro, motors, or wearing BDU's), we wear one on each arm. Training officers or sergeants wear stripes on both arms. On long sleeved unforms, officers get one hash mark on their lower left sleeve for every 5 years of service.

    So, whatever pictures you've seen are not of an LAPD officer.

    Oh...well I just assumed I guess if there is no patch on one arm then the other has it.

    Any reason why no patches? Because thats how you roll? :p

    I'm looking for Drug/Narcotic Unit patches together with DUI/DWI unit patches for a frame in our Anti-Drug-Team bureau

    Also looking for Massachusetts Police and US Capitol City PD patches now!

    Specials have dept patch on left arm and Special I or II on right arm.
