Well, I just got the word....

Seems I'm going to be moving to the great state of Texas (when I graduate High School, which is about 1 year and 40 days away). Any Texans have any advice for me? I feel bad for leaving my place of birth - Oklahoma - It'll always have a place in my heart. Guess I'll be trying out for Austin PD instead of OKC.

So you are going to school there? You already know over a year before you graduate high school?

I'm going to move down to a town near Austin a few weeks after I graduate here in Oklahoma. Once I move down there, I plan on going to Austin Community College, and then apply for UT after 2 years. With luck, I should be able to get my BA and apply for Austin PD. If they don't accept me, I'll apply and hopefully get accepted to a local PD, and then do a few years there, and finally apply and luckily get accepted to Austin PD.

(As you can see, it'll take alot of hope and luck :D )

I'm not a Texan, but I guarentee that if you wear a Big Texas flag and a t-shirt that reads "Don't Mess with Texas", you will fit right in!! :D

Hey Matt, thats a good outlook on things.

I think you would do fine with a 4yr degree. You would be 21, or 22 with a BA, not bad since the minimal is 30 credit hours, thats less than an associates degree.
I have known what I have wanted to do since I was 4 years old and so far things have gone according to plan. Just remember, if you have no plan you probably won't follow it.(Think about it :D )

Thanks. My dad served in the Navy for 27 years, you think he'll get upset about taking advice from a "Coastie"? :p
