Hey folks I have a few questions regarding the Portland Oregon area police departments.

I'll be relocating to the Portland area within the next couple months and was wondering if anyone is familiar with any of the area police agencies. I'm not sure whether to either apply for the large department or Portland pd, or look into a county SD's like Clackamas or Washington?

Any thoughts to what departments one would recommend and not recommend for the area?

Whoa, slow down fella. Take a breath;)

First, I'm thinking that "the large department" and Portland PD are one in the same. Second, there are numerous opportunities in the area for LE in the Portland Metro area. (Multonomah SO, Clackamas SO, Washington SO, Yamhill SO, etc. depending how far you want to get out of the metro area) Then, right across the river is Vancouver, WA and Clark County SO. And if you are really looking for excitement, go with OSP on the I-5 Corridor (mainline between San Diego and Seattle) Good luck!

Portland is a nice town, I've stayed there a few times and the wife lets me stop at the Danner factory once per year.

All of the big departments are hiring, Portland Police Bureau, Clackamas Co, Washington Co, Multnomah Co, etc. There are also several Portland metro area departments like Beaverton PD, Tigard PD, Gresham PD, etc. If you really want a shot at getting hired, apply to all the departments that you meet the minimum requirements for.
